@datwuh I love Japan, but many of your people needed a harsh reality check to understand that what you consider normal is not acceptable elsewhere, and that you're not above foreigners in any way.

@Shadowhalk225 To an extent. Japanese people tend to be less vocal with their criticisms of Japan but just like any other country/community, they are more likely to take criticism in stride if it comes from a fellow Japanese person.

@datwuh You know in English we have a conmon tradition of talking badly about our own country and being vocal about it but if somebody made those same criticisms it becomes a fight. Is there an equivalent of that in japan?

@datwuh I think it's reductive to lump together all Japanese people. A lot of what we're seeing is the worst of Japan and the worst of the West collide, because that seems to be what this website likes to promote. But they are a minority of people in real life. Generalization is bad.

@IronicnotSavage But it stems from a weird hatred of black people.
I mean they have a specific anti-black slur lol and children will call you a gorilla/monkey whatever and adults won't do shit about it. Japanese people are generally non-confrontational but they are still pretty anti-black.

@IronicnotSavage Twitter is definitely amplifying and it's true that a large percentage of Japanese twitter is just outcasts blowing off steam by saying controversial things and edgy teenagers Japanese anti-blackness is actually super common, just usually pretty mild.
