@JoOou_Sama2 @IAPonomarenko It doesn't help that there are multiple OUNs at that time, with different track record, tactical and ideological leanings. So when someone says OUN, it is worth asking which one. None were agenls, but lived on different intervals of the greyscale.

@IAPonomarenko Not good-washing here, he is ambigous. But they picked him, propably bc Hitler thought he is important enough to gain Ukraine as "Lebensraum". He became like a game chip that didnt want to deliver for both, Hitler and Stalin.

Here's a thing about Stepan Bandera: his image, both among admirers and critics, has very little to do with reality. Even further removed from reality are those who have convinced themselves that Ukraine has some kind of full-scale state cult of Stepan Bandera, that Ukraine is not just another normal country with different opinions, different heroes, and a range of attitudes toward them, often neutral or indifferent -- but some kind of “Evil Bandera State With Banners” that fails to meet the arrogant moral standards of “civilized Europe” (as if this “civilized Europe” has no controversial historical figures of its own, disliked by neighbors). At the same time, the most fervent adherents of this “Bandera cult” are actually the most ardent Ukraine-haters, especially in Russia, who are themselves obsessively fixated on Bandera for decades in a way that few nationalists in Ukraine actually are. For some, this delusion serves as a perverse justification for a genocidal war on Ukraine, but it brings no one any closer to the honest truth.

@gantzerek @IAPonomarenko Me, looking from the side, I find it quite "interesting" how a complicated historical picture is flattened and simplified. Then used to stir the righteous passions of people. There is a web of resentments between people, some based on history, others on legends and myths :(

@IAPonomarenko It's several shades of gray and complicated, doesn't get solved by easy solutions and we shouldn't get delusional about it. Unlike the russian genocidal conquest of Ukraine, that should have focus and resolve not diluted by parallel unsolved mutual historical resentments

The trouble with #Bulgaria’s elections is that our population is generally left-conservative but there is no actual Left-Conservative (Socialist) party to capitalise on this broad vote. Instead what is supposed to be leftwing is in fact a bunch of pro-Russian sellouts.

Unfortunately we live in interesting times. Europe overall and Ukraine struggle with convincing and enforcing their sovereignty and proving their agency against actors like Washington and Moscow, who each in their own way either ignore or denigrade them.

is the EML result surprising or even interesting to mathematicians? it gives me vibes of some triviality that one would give undergrads to prove in the first problem in a homework problem set rather than "a big thing", but then again i am terrible at judging these things and it might actually be incredibly hard. so which is it?
