@DeltaTrader4 @DryHumorDryBeef @tan123 Exactly. Infection rate mortality much lower than case fatality rate as we probably underestimate real number of infections including mild and symptomless cases. Problem is still with ICU and hospital beds.

#COVID19 sceptr.net/2020/04/antwer…. Lijkt raar maar volgens mij is dit heel positief: meer milde gevallen betekent % sterfte en zware gevallen over hele bevolking lager en al meer mensen immuun. Nog te weinig immuniteit en te veel nieuwe gevallen om sociale isolatie te verminderen.

@UrbaneSlave @alexandreafonso Indeed skewed by only testing more severe cases. Random test in NL already showed 6-9 % positive in Brabant - a severely hit NL province - on March 8/9. Random test Belgium now: 20 to 25 % positive, hardly any symptoms: mortality and severe case % lower and more immunity already.

@alexandreafonso So are we to conclude that the Iceland stats are correct due to wider testing and the Netherlands figures are skewed to those showing symptoms?

Here is a distribution of recorded Covid-19 cases in Iceland (which tests broadly, even people with no symptoms) and the Netherlands (which tests narrowly, only those with severe symptoms)

@alexandreafonso My take away: 1) the disease is more widespread than expected expected, 2) mortality rates are likely overestimated, 3) we are moving towards herd immunity. The problem is, of course, a worldwide lack of health care capacity for the vulnerable (the weaker will perish first).
