This is factual. One big reasons why this is happening is because the Y chromosome does not undergo recombinantion. This enabled deleterious mutations to accumulate and for it to be lost over time. It may not fully dissappear, but shrink to its most pivotal genetic iteration. The Y chromosome isn't imperative for male survival evolutionarily. Some mammals have moved sex deterministic genes to other chromosomes. Japanese spiny rats for example have completely lost thier Y chromosomes...
