5 things that are normal in Nigeria but I have never seen nor experienced in the UK OR vice-versa: 1. Electricity has never been interrupted, not even once, since I’ve been here and that’s almost 3 years now. Whereas in my beautiful home country, darkness is extremely normal. 2. I’ve never seen Geepee tanks (water storage tanks) before here. Water is centrally generated and flows to every household, so you don’t need to store it. 3. I’ve never seen an obvious mad person roaming the streets naked or in torn clothes here before. There are definitely people who aren’t okay upstairs but they are well cared for here and would most likely be in a mental home. 4. I’ve never seen a fuel queue before, even during the US/Israel-Iraq war. But this is so common in Nigeria, an oil producing country. 5. Foxes are our next door neighbours here but they are wild animals in Nigeria. How about yours???
