back when I was in high school, my local mall (in a nice part of midwest 🇺🇸) had to change its policies because a certain demographic of teenagers from another area code kept going there and getting into too many gang fights. The new policy required a large number of security guards to patrol the mall, checking IDs to ensure everyone was 18 or older. Those under 18 were not allowed inside without an adult chaperone. This ruined the mall for many people, as it used to be the main place where teenagers would go to hang out and apprach girls for phone numbers and to socialize.
