Oh my God! I’ve seen several of you comment that I’m going to destroy my back by doing loaded barbell jumps. Here’s the reality from an orthopedic surgeon (that knows way more about joints than you do) For many of you this activity would be a bad idea, primarily because you have allowed your back and other joints to become frail due to relative disuse over the years Loaded jumps whether done with a barbell, weight vest, trap bar or dumbbells are utilized all the time within the realm of high level sports such as track and field, as are extremely heavy barbell back squats and these athletes are rarely injured due to them. A prerequisite to being able to do stuff like this is a history of doing things to build up to it. One of the stupidest things that we have come to believe is that as we age we need to avoid impact to protect our joints-this advice has probably let to more degeneration and decay among older folks than anything else. Like our muscles, our tendons, ligaments and yes even cartilage need to experience regular loading to include some intense stuff. Now this doesn’t mean you can’t get hurt if you don’t progress systematically and just go out and start throwing stuff around. For me personally I have nearly 50 years of doing stuff like this. My back is much stronger than the average nearly 60 year old, my joints are healthier and because of that I can continue to push things a bit. The fact that I’m jumping around with 100lbs on my back is trivial for me, while that very same activity would destroy others that tried it without the proper training leading up to it. If you want to age and still maintain a very high level of function you will need to find a way to stimulate you muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints to include load and progressive impact If your joints are already destroyed you may need some modifications and a very slow on ramp.

The most profound boundary a human being can draw against tyranny is withholding the next generation. When people reach the point where they look at the world and say, "I will not hand my own flesh and blood over to be chewed up by your banks, your corporations, and your compliance traps," that is the line. It is the ultimate strike. You cannot run a debt-based empire without a constant supply of new debtors. You cannot run a massive corporate apparatus without a fresh wave of compliant, stressed-out workers to keep wages down and production up. By refusing to provide that fodder, people are quietly pulling the plug on the machine's energy source.
