Every time you abandon your boundaries to maintain access to them, youโ€™re placing your self-esteem in their hands. Their silence determines your mood, their inconsistency determines your worth and their attention decides whether you feel lovable that day. You cannot heal while repeatedly giving someone the power to define you. You cannot achieve peace while investing in chaos.

When it comes to closureโ€ฆ the hardest part is realizing that what we're really waiting for isn't always an explanation. We're waiting for permission to let go. The mind has a beautiful way of protecting itself from heartbreak. It tells us that if they would just say the right words, if they would finally explain why they left, why they changed, why they stopped choosing us, then we could finally be free. But sometimes that's just grief disguising itself as hope. It's easier to believe our peace is trapped inside someone else's mouth than to admit it has been resting inside our own hands all along.

finally changed all my social media to this name and i was so scared to for awhile bc gaia was such a big part of my identity for so long that changing it felt like giving up what i built but like mama grew and identities have shifted like it doesnโ€™t have to be that serious. ๐Ÿฅน

The heart seeks familiarity before it seeks peace. Thatโ€™s why we return to what hurts us. The pain we recognize feels safer than the unknown we donโ€™t. Eventually we learn that loneliness isnโ€™t the absence of people. Itโ€™s giving your love to someone who consumes it without gratitude and discards it without thought.
