Too busy this year to have done a big celebratory drawing, hopefully I can get something done at some point, maybe DK's 45th anniversary or something, but either way, shout out to DKC's 30th Anniversary in North America!! Things are looking up for the big ape! #DKC30

heres a list of nintendo characters more iconic than peppy and slippy that are not playable in smash Skull kid Octolings Chibi robo Captain Toad Bandana Dee Waluigi Paper Mario Geno Tom nook Louie Starfy Ashley Captain Syrup Midna Impa Tingle Magolor Susie Taranza

I genuinely think it’s time Peppy and Slippy became playable in smash. They’re arguably the most iconic Nintendo characters not yet playable (alongside Toad & Dixie Kong). Yeah they wouldn’t be that unique, but 2 more lower effort characters is fine. They’re arguably overdue.

@PersonthePerso2 I'd say it's either or. If Nintendo continues to give the cold shoulder to Krystal in the next SF game, and still props up the og team. Then I feel it would be appropriate to have all four members of team Star Fox on the roster. They're each equally important next to Fox.

@BowlOfSpagooter @OIiviaaaaAAAA What?? Lol, 20 years isn't enough because Smash values history waaaaay deeper than that. Relevancy isn't necessary, no need to get so heated. Sorry you were offended at me "sighing" at Waluigi, lol. He's not an important character imo, he's just never done anything of value.

@juliusaurus @OIiviaaaaAAAA Your argument was that “20 years isn’t enough for a character to become iconic”, directly contradicting everything else you’ve said up until this point, purely due to your disgust at Waluigi.

@BowlOfSpagooter @OIiviaaaaAAAA EPD4 developed Star Fox Zero with Platinum as the assistant developer. But also, EAD merged into EPD, so that's why I'm just saying EPD now. And hey, no name calling please, don't stoop. Star Fox was always more valued than those other IP too. Was part of the og 8 after all.

@juliusaurus @OIiviaaaaAAAA EPD didn’t develop Star Fox numbnuts Also I don’t see this much love for F-Zero or 1080 Snowboarding or Clu Clu Land or Dobutsu no Mori or Mole Mania or SimCity or Steel Diver or The Mysterious Murasame Castle or Wave Race. You can’t tell me F-Zero wasn’t on par at the time.

@PJiggles_ It's Toad, for sure. I wouldn't even call Waluigi an icon, he's just well known, he's never really had an important role in any important game from Nintendo.

@BowlOfSpagooter @OIiviaaaaAAAA Oh I'm not in 100% agreement with the OP either, as iconic as I feel the OG 4 Star Fox team members are, there are many more iconic characters ahead of them that Nintendo owns that would make sense for Smash. I feel Star Fox would need a proper revival to justify more newcomers.

@juliusaurus @OIiviaaaaAAAA It’s worth noting that none of this equates to iconography. Not one bit of it. Bulborbs are more iconic, and Miyamoto has been showing absurd amounts of Pikmin favoritism. We should get Bulborb in Smash next, not more furries.

@BowlOfSpagooter @OIiviaaaaAAAA Still doesn't change the fact that EPD franchises, especially ones made by Miyamoto, are THE legacy franchises at Nintendo. Star Fox, like it or not, will always be valued, just like Pikmin, where for years and years it was unsuccessful, but Miyamoto kept bringing it back.

@juliusaurus @OIiviaaaaAAAA EAD made the first three games… and absolutely none of the others. One of those three games did not get released until 2017 because of its cancellation. Nintendo may act like it acknowledges it, but Fox’s inclusion in the movie was because his VA called for it.

I have been saying this for a while now but since Falco is not an echo of Fox, Slippy and Peppy echo fighters for Fox and Falco would be great. Maybe give Slippy a mechanic where he damages himself and his FS could be crashing his Arwing into the stage lol

@BowlOfSpagooter @OIiviaaaaAAAA Assistant developer, which many of the games have had, but it's more about the creation of it, Star Fox was an internal IP at EAD, led by Miyamoto. Its going to mean more to the company, I mean, this image Nintendo has been using for over a decade, and recently updated, shows so.

@juliusaurus @OIiviaaaaAAAA That’s not even true! The last Star Fox game was developed by fucking Platinum, the people behind Bayonetta! EPD has never once in their existence developed a Star Fox game!

@BowlOfSpagooter @OIiviaaaaAAAA Nope, not when this particular series was created by Miyamoto and internally at EPD. No matter what that'll make the series more important in the eyes of Nintendo. I mean, it just showed up in that Mario Galaxy movie for christsake. It'll always come back, it has that privilege.

@juliusaurus @OIiviaaaaAAAA It’s like asking the average Nintendo fan who Captain Rainbow is. They don’t know who the fuck he is. Because he’s not propped up by Smash as a crutch. Without Smash, F-Zero and, yes, Star Fox, would be just as obscure.

@BowlOfSpagooter @OIiviaaaaAAAA I guess keep a lookout on what Nintendo has planned for Star Fox in the near future then. Star Fox is a legacy IP, and the original four team members are iconic to that branding. Wouldn't be shocked if they were propped up come next Smash.

@onlysmartbrain @OIiviaaaaAAAA If you haven't noticed, Smash Bros. pays attention and values history. The original four members of team Star Fox are essentially the Ninja Turtles, the four of them are rarely seen apart, and when they're together, they're the icon that makes up Star Fox.

@jackorangefr Slippy and Peppy do share more of a body type however, so maybe they could be a newcomer, with a full original moveset, and be Echo Fighters of each other. There's plenty of tech and weaponry unrepped from Star Fox you could give them.

id kill for all of the star fox quintet to be playable in smash but the problem with these two specifically is that we already have two derivative fox clones in smash already and they wouldn’t work as alternate skins since they have vastly different body types so… shrug idk

@Whooptynator An internally developed EPD 3D Yoshi game with the same level of ambition that Yoshi's Island had for its time. Get Nintendo's A team on this, or at the very least B team. Yoshi has been getting C team or lower treatment for far too long.

@Smashiebros That is not why I picked Mickey. I picked him for the reasons I already mentioned, but him being one of the most iconic characters ever doesn't hurt... Though without that ticket in, and without those distinct game-only appearances, I wouldn't have drawn this moveset for him.

@juliusaurus and i will pick mickey and goku as a tie on who should be picked first Goku becuase its clear he is THE most requested non video game character becuase sakurai has mention him twice basically on this topic on interview and Mickey becuase he is 1 of the most iconic char. ever

@Smashiebros But it's not hypocritical, it's already what's in Smash. Video game versions of public domain characters are so far the ONLY non-game origin characters in Smash at all. Castlevania's Dracula is not Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula, it's uniquely a Dracula that originates in games.

@Smashiebros I don't agree. I think sticking to game origin, and in these rare cases, video game versions of public domain characters, is a good rule of thumb. But yeah, it is very much riding the fence as far as one can go. It's as far as we can push it with the already established rules.

@juliusaurus but the thing is they are still not video game char. if like against Goku becuase he is not video game character that SHOULD apply to all on that rule no matter if public domain or not no matter if theirs personality is same or not honestly
