@TheSkepticWiz … they have science class 180 days a year for 13 years. There’s only 52 sundays a year.

@mathnerd49 @FatherChrisVor1 @LukeMye48429084 You bigots need to get new material. Muslims eat all the time in cafes & restuarants serving bacon & pork. They don't care if other people eat it, they just don't eat it themselves. I have never had a Muslim friend stop me from eating bacon or pork when we have dined out together

The Pope removed his shoes in a mosque and people are outraged? That’s not compromise. That’s basic respect. If you enter someone’s home or sacred space, you honor their customs. We expect it in our churches. Why pretend not to understand it anywhere else?

@esjesjesj @jakerattlesnk Consider you go to school. There is usually a few shared common names. A couple Johns. A couple Jims. Now there 6 are Mohammeds.

@jakerattlesnk Then what the fuck are you talking about "the end of our civilization"? Because SOME people are named Mohamed, "our" civilization is ending?

@FatherChrisVor1 @LukeMye48429084 And if they ask to stop serving bacon, would they oblige? Their prayers are not individual expressions. They are a prescribed and dedicated form of worship to a false god. They deliberately made it more comfortable for this wrong worship to go forth under their roof.

I can’t imagine why this has to be answered again, but here goes. Because there are Islamic scholars who professionally use the library. Muslims pray five times a day on a very strict schedule. They do not just pray sitting down quietly. They have physical gestures to do and words that need to be spoken out loud. The scholars asked if there would be a room that they could go to where they could privately do their thing without interrupting any of the other library patrons. The Vatican said yes, and provided them with a small space.

@ericmmatheny I like the flat rate income tax assuming you don’t pay capital gains tax or property tax. Then when you retire. You don’t pay any more taxes

What would work better? A flat tax rate where everybody - regardless of income level - pays a fixed percentage; Or A consumption-based national sales tax system where you are only taxed on goods you purchase?

I’m going to keep saying it. If religious doctrine mattered, God would have been clearer about it. All the arguments against that are desperate and highly implausible. So here goes, again; If religious doctrine mattered, God would have been clearer about it.

If you paid even a penny in federal income tax last year, you paid more than: Tesla Southwest Disney Live Nation HP United PayPal CVS Health Palantir Citigroup PG&E 3M That's right. They paid $0 in federal income tax. It's time for big corporations to pay their fair share.

@FANOwND @imPenny2x I concede. You are correct. In my defense, that would be much better labeled “the snow ball effect fallacy” sometimes the text books are dumb

Is slippery slope even a fallacy? I feel like it's a very real concept. A valid arguement in many cases.

@imPenny2x Logical fallacies are thought-play, not really usable in real world. "Poisoning the well" fallacy is a perfect example. Logically, that someone lied 100 times before doesn't mean he lies again. Realistically, believing him is foolish.

@FANOwND @imPenny2x “It’s not wrong to tell big lies because they help people feel better”. It points out logical fallacies very cleanly if you’re genuinely concerned with truth and not winning an argument.

@FANOwND @imPenny2x That’s not slippery slope. That’s bad transitive property. Slippery slope is when you argue that the same logic you used to justify something small can be used used to justify something big.“It’s not wrong to tell little white lies because they help people feel better”

@imPenny2x No. People excusing a small offense if they see a good result “stealing food to feed your starving family” does not justify the action. Trying to justify it instead of accepting your limitations and owning your decisions is corruption which increases when left unchecked.
