My father has cancer. Stage four. The VA said maybe four months. He served three tours in Vietnam and came home to people spitting on him, calling him baby killer, telling him his service meant nothing. He never talked about the war. Never wore his medals. Never went to reunions. Just carried fifty-two years of shame for doing what his country asked him to do. Last month hospice started coming to the house and I realized I had no idea how to honor him, how to tell him his life mattered when he'd spent half a century believing it didn't. So I posted in a quilting group asking if anyone made military quilts, and a woman responded immediately. She'd found me through a shop where she runs a business making Quilts of Valor for dying veterans. She said “I'll start tonight.” She finished it in three weeks, worked around the clock because Dad's time is short. Every star is hand-stitched. Every stripe is perfectly aligned. She shipped it express and included a letter thanking him for his service, telling him that her father died alone believing nobody cared that he'd served. She said “Let your dad know the country was wrong. His service mattered. He matters.” We wrapped him in it yesterday. This photo is him seeing it for the first time. He cried for twenty minutes, kept touching the stars, kept saying “Someone made this for me?” I've started coordinating with other quilters now, connecting dying veterans with makers who can get quilts finished in time. Racing against cancer, against time, against fifty years of men dying before anyone told them thank you. Dad has maybe six weeks now. But he'll leave wrapped in stars. ⭐🇺🇸 By Angela mcnutt

💔She’s gone. We took this photo together just 2 hours ago. The hardest decision ever. We did not want that cancer to win, so instead of having her hang on for weeks & have it take her when it burst open, we gave her the best day ever & said goodbye while she could still somewhat enjoy it. I’m absolutely devastated and this is another huge loss. She joins her best friend forever Jake, at the rainbow bridge. We were told to choose a date (before the tumor ruptured) which at the latest would be weeks. We decided last night to say goodbye today, on her 14th birthday. What an honor to spend it with her. We spent the morning making a paw print for her memory, we went for a last walk (she tired after only a minute), we hung out with Jackson, had some birthday ice cream, she had a big chew bone & treats, and I cooked her fresh chicken and vegetables. I fed it to her out of my hand, so that I could be close to her on her final breakfast. When we got to the vet, we brought a McDonalds breakfast sandwich; which she had always wanted, and I also fed that to her. Our final words were how happy she made us, how blessed we were, how much we loved her & that she would meet her Jake at the bridge. We told her how good of a girl she was and that we would see her in heaven. Absolutely lost without her. Life will not be the same. She was like a daughter to me. I lost my only daughter to cancer (she was 30) and Abbey was like a daughter in a way. I work from home & we were together 24/7. There will never be another princess. @TrumpsHurricane You need to talk with your kids and ask them. Take their opinions to heart, especially if you want them to try and adapt to this huge upheaval in their life. You may think you’re doing what’s best for them, but are you? If they have the opportunity to have input, that will help

But by then, the officer had decided he wasn’t going to waste any more time going back and forth. Moments like this can turn tense fast. A simple signature could’ve ended it in minutes, but pride, frustration, or stubbornness sometimes make people dig in their heels. From the officer’s side, repeated refusal can look like noncompliance that needs to be addressed quickly to keep things under control. Do you think the officer was justified in moving forward with the arrest, or do you feel it was too harsh once she finally agreed to cooperate?

Am I overreacting? I bought a sweater for my future niece, and my roommates said it was ugly! I ordered from the local crafter, I wanted support her, cause I love this community, and I think its pretty nice, but my roommates said it was ugly My sister in law is pregnant and I found this sweater for the baby girl at a Mexican farmers market today. (Baby is half mexican half islander) I brought it home and excitedly showed it to my roommates and they called it ugly. I told them they were mean and have been keeping to myself for the night.
