Kurds in Iran have resisted the regime for decades. Their struggle is rooted in dignity, identity, language, and basic rights long denied to them. This struggle did not begin with the Islamic Republic. #Kurds were already demanding constitutional and linguistic rights under the Shah, when #Kurdish cultural and political demands were also severely suppressed. For many Kurds, messages of @POTUS resonate at a time when they see a dangerous moment but also a rare and precious opportunity. After decades of repression, even a small opening for freedom carries enormous meaning. That is why Kurdish resistance in #Iran has never disappeared and Kurdish forces say they are ready to act in this historic moment. @cnni #EpicFury #Iranianwar

President Trump on the Iranian regime: "We've been hitting them awfully hard. I don't know if you can possibly get hit harder. These are thugs, and animals, and horrible people... But I'm not surprised! They executed 3 young people for protesting. I don't want to do a ceasefire. You know you don't do a ceasefire when you're literally obliterating the other side."

Today at Erbil Citadel, in the presence of President Barzani, we lit the Newroz fire. Throughout history, the people of Kurdistan have stood against oppression and never bowed to tyrants. Happy Newroz and Kurdish New Year -mb.

The Pentagon is sending three warships and thousands of additional Marines to the Middle East, even as President Trump insists he won’t put American boots on the ground in Iran, according to U.S. officials. wsj.com/livecoverage/i…

Speaking at the @DayanCenter panel about the role of the Kurds in Iran, Ahwan Chiako, member of the executive council of the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK), said they want the #America and #Israel to be clear about the system they envision for the future of #Iran. "Let’s be clear about our position. If the Kurdish people decide they want their future within a decentralized and democratic Iran, then we support that completely. However, we don't view any other choice as a 'crime.' Ultimately, nothing is higher than freedom itself. While #PJAK has always based its program on confederalism, we haven't ruled out other paths to achieving Kurdish freedom. Essentially, we support whatever framework the Kurdish people choose to gain that freedom. If they believe their rights can be secured within a democratic, decentralized Iran, we are in agreement. If they choose another path, such as federalism, confederalism, or even separation if all chances for coexistence within Iran vanish, we don't see that as a crime either. To us, nothing is more precious than freedom. Based on that principle, we are ready to build tactical and strategic alliances and cooperate with outside forces. In this regard, we set no limits for ourselves; we see it as our right to utilize every opportunity. Specifically, we believe the relationship between the Kurdish and #Jewish peoples must be a strategic one. We both live in this region, and a relationship between us wouldn't just serve the democratization of Iran. It could become a vehicle to democratize the entire Middle East. Naturally, we have expectations for the forces we work with. We need real guarantees, starting on the battlefield. The Islamic Republic’s capacity to massacre our people must be neutralized, and their use of airspace against us must be eliminated. The regime's ability to use air power or orchestrate massacres must be dismantled in every way possible. We are seeing some practical steps in this direction now, but it’s not yet at a level where we can be fully assured that if the #Kurdish people rise up, the regime won't be able to use these brutal means against them. We know that freedom requires sacrifice. As Kurds, we have paid that price before, and we are ready to pay it again. At the same time, it is our duty to protect our people from genocide. We do not want to see our people being massacred in the streets. We are willing to pay the necessary price for our freedom, but not a price counted in senseless slaughter. We also need political guarantees. We want the #America and #Israel to be clear about the system they envision for the future of #Iran. It creates deep concern for us when we see support for a system that would simply recreate a centralized Iran. That type of system does not grant authority to the #Kurds or other distinct nations in the country. We need clarity in the political arena. Supporting one side while ignoring the rights of Kurds and others in an attempt to build a new centralist Iran is a serious worry. We need trust and guarantees that Kurdish rights, and the rights of all nations, will be upheld in a future Iran. Finally, regarding the threats coming from the Turkish state, we genuinely do not see Kurdish freedom or the changing situation in Iran as a threat to Turkey. Why should political change in Iran be a threat to them? We pose no threat to #Turkey or any other state. Kurds simply want their own freedom and the freedom of other nations in Iran, and we believe the #Turkish people should be free, too. But let one thing be very clear: our policy is based on the right to self-determination. That is the fundamental principle we all stand by."

Senior #PJAK leader Ahwan Chiako told at the @DayanCenter panel that they are fully open to building tactical and strategic alliances with international partners. “We do not put limits on who we will work with to achieve our goals. For instance, we believe building a strategic relationship between the #Kurdish and #Jewish people makes perfect sense since we share the same region. This partnership could actually be a major catalyst for bringing democracy not only to Iran but also to the wider Middle East…” youtu.be/TULfWPLEJxo?si…
