TDSB to cut more than 600 teachers next year. The plan shows a loss of about five per cent of the board’s elementary teacher workforce, totalling about 484 jobs. The board’s secondary school workforce could shrink by about three per cent, equating around 123 jobs. Classroom teachers are the most heavily impacted for both elementary and secondary teachers, making up a proposed 330 lost jobs. The board is also planning to do away with 175 jobs for teachers who have provided additional capacity to TDSB schools in low-income areas, mainly through the board’s model school program.
