Interesting war observation. You think the majority who volunteered to fight, are the big, sporty, mildly aggressive tough guys? Think again. It’s mostly the skinny/chubby, quiet, calm guys. It’s not always what it seems

Sometimes you must try a variety of things to find out what works for you and what does not. In the recent months I have learned a lot about what’s important for me. With Patrick I did some of my greatest triumphs and I believe he can help me achieving my goals 🤩

Dear fans and friends, I hope this post finds you all in good spirits and with a strong backhand! Some of you have noticed that it’s been a while since I played a tournament and still ask me on a daily basis if and when I’ll be returning to the tour. I’m sorry to disappoint, but with this letter, I want to make it official and finally announce my retirement. I’ve had a very gratifying, unorthodox and long career coming from extremely humble beginnings, especially for a tennis player. Croatia was a very different country in the 80s and 90s when I was growing up, and I’m very proud of my accomplishments and what I’ve been able to overcome. I’d like to thank all the coaches and people who were involved in and contributed to my development as a tennis player. Without you this fortunate journey would not have been possible. My family provided tremendous support and I love them immensely. I’m looking forward to continuing to spend time with them doing things that are important to us and that fulfill us. To all of you who were fans and supporters throughout the years, thank you for being a part of my journey. I love you all and I hope to see you again. I will stay close to tennis and try to share my knowledge and all of the incredible experiences on tour with new generations of tennis players. The journey continues and the focus gets redirected. I am grateful. Cheers, Dr. Ivo

Anita Ekberg was a Swedish actress who was also a trained archer and knew how to box. In 1960, she had a remarkable encounter with the paparazzi. After warning them to leave her alone repeatedly, she beat one up. Undeterred, they continued to follow her. She retrieved a bow and arrow from her car. Warned them one last time. And she… shot one of them with an arrow. Anita Ekberg wasn’t bothered by paparazzi again. The La Dolce Vita star eventually lived to be 83, dying in 2015 in Rome.

This is my favorite picture from last night’s epic Battle of the Baddest between Tyson Fury and Francis Nagannou. Yes I’m a little biased as the founder of Xtreme Couture MMA where Francis does his MMA training with regard to the decision last night. Honestly, not many of you out there gave Francis a snowball’s chance in hell of even getting out of the first round against Tyson and the truth is a split decision loss is still an incredible accomplishment. It could have easily been a split decision victory. I think one judge was definitely watching a different fight and that is a problem in both our sports! MMA and Boxing have no accountability these judges and any of the decisions they put on paper. I’ve seen many bad scores in both sports with no consequences. That in my humble opinion needs to be addressed. That being said this picture captures what these sports are all about. The Pursuit of Excellence. Doing the best we can, to serve our passions and talents with all that we are, is what excellence is all about. Winning is of little concern. There are many times I lost even though I came out ahead on the score card and many times I won even though I came up short. Winning is giving one’s full effort, and facing a challenge with courage and dedication. It is not a statistic on a score card. I have been asked to compare Boxing to MMA since I started my career in ‘97 ( UFC13). This fight had the potential to close the gap between two trifling factions, (Boxing and Mixed Martial arts) that have been poking each other since the early 90’s. I believe it succeeded in doing just that. The internet is on fire today with arm chair warriors, fight analysts and fighters with their opinions. That’s ok, both sports have passionate fans and that’s great. So all of you continue to hash out and argue your positions, observations, and opinions about MMA and Boxing, which is best, who won or lost, and the state of our respective sports. I believe we should all pause the egos and rhetoric, step back and just admire these Warriors and their amazing performances. In many ways these sports are like comparing apples to oranges, but the truth is there are more similarities in Sportsmanship, Work ethic, and Warrior Spirit than the difference in technique and rules of engagement! I was honored and humbled to be included in this event with many of the best fighters from the last 30 years in combative sports. All those champions embraced myself and my fellow MMA Champions like we were brothers, cut from the same cloth and I believe we are. The truth is as a collective group, we are a very small percentage of the population that is able and willing to do what we do and do it well. That is something every fan out there should be celebrating today! Not disparaging and picking everything apart. This is a combative sports brotherhood. I am honored to be a part of it! I’ve seen or been apart of some amazing shows over the years in both the US and Japan. I believe I witnessed the best production of any fight so far last night. From the undercard outdoors in a beautiful setting to the brand new indoor facility with an ascending ring, big screen graphics, light show, music and an amazing main event by two very special Warriors. Hats off to both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Top Rank Boxing for hosting and putting on such and amazing sports spectacle! At the end of the day isn’t there enough division in the world? “It is better to be a Warrior in the Garden, than a Gardener in a War!” @turkialashik @riyadhseason #furyngannu #riyadhseason

@MikaelYmer Unbelievable Mikael, so sorry you're having to deal with this. The ban is ridiculous and overtly harsh. I hop the tide turns and the decision can be reversed.

It was a crazy ride. Good and bad. But I see it as this. I was a piece of metal. No purpose or shape. A swordmaker came and picked me up. He saw potential. There were many imperfections. But he insisted that I was worth keeping. It was hard as he hammered away. It was a struggle. There was pain. I was lost. But he kept hammering and folding. Hundreds of times he spends. Working out those imperfections one by one. Now im starting to take shape. Im starting to look good. Feel good. He takes his time. I realize that. So I suck it up and keep going. Soon ill strong and sharp. Powerful and graceful. Only to be used in a good way. Samurai swords are some of the best on earth. The care into one of these is long and strenuous. But the effort is worth it. I hope to be used for good. To be helpful. To protect those who can't do it themselves. To use my struggles to become more. To be better than I was yesterday.

@SimplyMike14 Oh no, honestly was agreeing with your response. More pointing out how I get the sucky part of halting a super fun thing as a participating component here. And, oh yes, the nail side. I have seen it up close!

@oedeworld Copy that red rooster. I understand the postponing effects more than my own bubble. Was just like..."Well, damnit". Don't get my response wrong, I am happy for what that can mean for the Thumbs. The potential is huge for what can be done. Just beware of the nail side of the thumb
