@Georgia_Gould Regrettably, he did not act on his manifesto promises. Indeed, in some instances did the opposite. Additionally, there were too many avoidable u-turns!

Keir defied all odds leading the Labour Party to victory having been told we would be out of power for a generation. He led a government that invested in public services, took generational steps to end child poverty, handed more power to communities to shape their lives and delivered transformational expansions of rights for workers, renters and leaseholders. I know personally his commitment to justice, to giving everyone the opportunity to achieve their potential and his deep sense of service, that means he has always put the country first. He is an incredibly honourable man and I’m proud to have been elected and served under his leadership. Our job now is to unite as a party, build on the positive foundations built over the last 2 years, that are already showing improvements in our public services, our economy and our neighbourhoods and work every day to deliver the change people voted for us to deliver.

Hi @MelJStride you seem to be suffering memory loss again. Under the Tories, the UK’s debt to GDP ratio went up by half. Before you blame COVID, roughly two thirds of that rise happened *before* the Pandemic. By contrast, this Gov’t has the fastest deficit reduction programme in the G7. If you want look for someone to blame for the U.K. debt, I suggest you find a mirror
Mel Stride@MelJStride

The @Conservatives are the only party with a plan to tackle Britain’s debt. My words in the @Telegraph 👇🏻

@Fin1Heath Why are all public authorities so incompetent ? Surely the answer is quite simple : it's the calibre of the people they employ. In the real world none of them including senior management would last a week. A culture change is required.

@CityWestminster When will WCC ensure its Housing Department protects residents by providing basic security at Verney House ? Entrance doors have been defective for years enabling undesirable persons unfettered access for nefarious purposes.

Westminster City Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Enforcement Caroline Sargent said: “I’m deeply saddened by the news that a young man has been killed on the streets of our city. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family. "The council appreciates the grief and worry our community will be feeling and we’ll do all we can, working alongside the police, to support local residents. "It would be inappropriate to comment further during an ongoing police investigation.”

@pyotrmarshall Thanks - I continue to follow this up. You may want to reach out to the new cabinet member for housing as well, Cllr David Harvey.

@FionaParker66 The pedestrianisation of Oxford Street might be secure but nothing has been done to make residents of Verney House safe and secure. The defective door issue remains unresolved. Thank you Westminster City Council.

Instead of fixating on Oxford St and Sadiq Khan, Westminster's Con leadership should set out how they're going to tackle the serious challenges facing our city, ie inequality, child poverty, housing. We hear nothing from them on these issues

🚨First Conservative u-turn🚨 After months promising a court battle over Oxford Street, Westminster Conservatives have dropped the legal challenge just two weeks into office. westminsterlabour.org.uk/issues/2026/05…

@DavidPintoD Westminster City Council has once again reverted to the Conservative Party having only once since its creation on 1 April 1965 been under controlled by Labour.

Today really hurts. We have seen many amazing Labour councillors, including in Barnet, lose their seats. We owe them a debt of thanks. We also owe it to them, and the communities we serve, to accelerate the change we were elected to bring. That means focusing on delivery rather than turning inwards; coming together, rather than getting distracted. The PM is right: we must redouble our efforts to ensure people see change in our country and feel it in their lives. That must be our overwhelming priority and we need to get behind him as he delivers on that.

@josephpowell Labour took control of Westminster City Council for the first time ever in 2022. I have not seen any improvements at its Housing Department. Same hierarchy, same lack of awareness, same incompetence and same lack responsibility. So all in all no real change!

@AaronBastani The whole world seems to have lost touch with reality. Antisocial media is at the root of all this, but like all those with an addiction they are in denial and continue to be brainwashed.

My wife was targeted outside our daughter’s nursery today (handing out leaflets) & basically called a paedophile by a mum. A reform voter. She’s a Labour councillor & 5 months pregnant! This stuff is a threat to a functioning, well-governed society. It’s okay to just…disagree.

@PaulEFishr The Police act by consent. Consent does not afford the unnecessary use of force and/or violence in any circumstance. Why should the prevention of alleged antisemitism be singled out as a lawful exception ?

A major step forward in strengthening the backbone of Britain’s energy network: the UK’s biggest-ever electricity transmission project is now under contract. Eastern Green Link 3 is a new 690km subsea and underground link between Scotland and England. Subject to planning approval, construction is due to begin in 2028: nationalgrid.com/major-grid-con… @ssencommunity @hitachienergy @NKT_Cables

Our investment in the energy future of Britain and the US Northeast is accelerating. With regulatory support in both the UK and US, we are expanding the record-level of investment announced in 2024 by £10 billion to at least £70 billion over the next five years by FY2031. This expansion recognises the broad change taking place across the energy system today. Electricity networks must increase capacity to respond to network growth and drive forward innovation in both the UK and US. The increase in efficiency will help industries grow and our customers and communities can prosper. Read more about our investment 👉 otp.tools.investis.com/clients/uk/nat…

Recently @alexburghart and I brought @nationalgrid to my office in #Billericay to discuss the Norwich to Tilbury Project To be clear, neither of us want these mega pylons coming through our constituencies and, along with residents, we will fight them to get a better plan in place instead. We made clear that we will keep pushing for National Grid to reconsider these plans that could cause real damage locally.
