2's biggest one-up over the other books is it had the Mutant Rangers. MAN i wish they could have come back in 3

I think 3 in particular got a bit too in over its head in trying to include as much as it could when it wasn't really necessary (Canonizing the Usagi crossover and then "oh hey, Venus!" at the end the biggest examples of this I think) but the emotional core was stronger than 2's

Managed to get it thanks to a friend and overall: pretty good finale! Lots of fun, the ending splash page was very cute, Splinter in White Ranger garb...kind of hot? Overall I think I'd rank the series 1 > 3 > 2

Next is the Purple Golem Zord! 💜💎 This one was a fun challenge since I was asked to design a golem with an emphasis on sleekness and tech rather than the typical blocky big guys you see in pop culture.

Yeah it's kinda hard to deny the Smash Bros movie theories at this point

@weightofthecrwn Like lbr if a Power Rangers adaptation was ashamed of being Power Rangers, it would be so obvious lol wanting to give characters personal drama and arcs is not being ashamed!! It's wanting you to care about them and the greater narrative??? That's not a bad thing!!

@roboptera same omg why am i seeing ppl say its embarassed of its source material?? the kids wearing their color-coded clothing without anyone telling them to was so funny!!! people just seem annoyed the movie is driven by the characters and not the action

While I do agree that the 2017 Power Rangers movie took too long to get to the actual PR stuff I think it's a disservice to the film to say it was "ashamed" of its source. Bryan Cranston Zordon says "Rita Repulsa" without a hint of irony or snarky responses from the Rangers

@DeadpoolMLP Honestly at the time I figured they'd at least try ONE sequel, banking on Tommy focus and sales making up for the first film underperforming. BOOM making their main series immediately post-Tommy and saving pre-Tommy for a later prequel series was pretty ingenious though

@DeadpoolMLP I imagine they figured they needed to do an origin film bc of different the 2017 universe was from the show, compared to how the BOOM comics aligned more closely. But you can tell they were trying to compromise with the JDF cameo, Rita being Green, Tommy's credit mention, etc

Like let's be honest with ourselves RPM had more "um, POWER RANGERS, am I right???" humor than the gritty teen drama adaptation released at the height of the MCU

If anything when I saw the film for the first time I was so pleasantly surprised at how it embraces the silliness of Power Rangers and didn't try to cover it up with "haha yeah we know this is dumb but hear us out" humor. She made Goldar out of literal gold
