@rubyjanediary It doesn’t originate with Arabs. It goes back to the ancient Greek “barbaros,” used for non-Greek-speaking peoples, later adopted by Romans as “barbari.” Arabic sources then used “Barbar” which was already an older Greco-Roman term.
