@liambeadle Come along and give advice! We can only go off the lectionary in Wales unless we know better! 🤷‍♂️ Would be very helpful to have more expertise on site!

@liambeadle Apropos a recent conversation: It will surprise no one to learn that I said Evening Prayer and went to bed.

@liambeadle Nah Terry is waiting to ring the bell to let the people who attend but can’t see well when the elevation occurs. They appreciate it. (I accept people close up with great eyesight might think it eccentric).

@liambeadle If you’d like to buy a Church that was bombed in the blitz so has no Passion Red vestments, some new ones that would be great! 😇 Otherwise Purple is the correct colour according to the lectionary in Wales. 🧐

@JohnIrishAnglcn @SwanseaMinster The Minster is an Anglican(church in Wales) Minster Church, the first in Wales!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 I’d call it straight down the middle of the road Anglican, but some call the Church in Wales Chruchmanship High/Anglo Catholic. I think it’s very well done & focuses on worshiping the glory of God.

Tonight at Swansea Minster, we entered the deep mystery of Maundy Thursday. After sharing in the Last Supper and the washing of feet, we now move into the quiet of the Watch at the Altar of Repose — keeping company with Christ in the spirit of the Garden of Gethsemane. All are welcome to stop, pray, and watch with Him as we begin the journey toward the cross. “Could you not watch with me one hour?”

@WiciCymru @CelticAber In his defence I’m he did clarify what he meant when the audience (almost entirely Welsh clergy) gasped 🤣

@HoldenCCole Anglo Catholics still do this regularly. Didn’t even know it was an ancient tradition! 👏☺️

Prayers for the Emperor / Civil Authority Good Friday intercessions once explicitly prayed for rulers in a hierarchical order. These were simplified and generalized, reflecting a shift away from Christendom language.

Most people think Holy Week stayed basically the same after Vatican II. But a number of older Holy Week customs. some very striking, quietly disappeared or were simplified. Here are 5 lesser-known traditions that were lost or reduced. 🧵

The Triple Candle (Lumen Christi) The deacon once carried a three-branched candle, lighting it step by step. It symbolized the Trinity bringing light into darkness. This was replaced with the single Paschal candle procession.
