Tonight’s Easter Vigil at Swansea Minster was beautiful and deeply moving. 🌙✨ Watching the Paschal candle brought into the darkness — a single flame breaking through the silence — reminded me how powerful the light of hope truly is. From darkness to light. He is risen. ✝️🕯️

Tonight, we carry the Paschal Candle—its flame breaking through the darkness—as we enter the Minster Church and begin the great celebration of Easter. This ancient light, symbolising Christ risen in glory, will lead us into the first Mass of Easter, filling the church with hope, warmth, and joy. It’s one of the most beautiful and powerful moments of the entire Christian year. ✨ If you are able, please arrive before 7:00pm to be part of the procession and experience the full depth of this sacred liturgy. ✨ The church will be in darkness as the new fire is lit… and then, candle by candle, the light spreads. ✨ All are welcome—come and witness the mystery, the beauty, and the promise of Easter.

For the first time since 1994, the Pope is personally carrying the Cross for all 14 Stations of the Cross, as Pope Leo XIV leads the Via Crucis at Rome’s Colosseum in the first Good Friday of his Pontificate.

What a powerful and moving Good Friday liturgy at Swansea Minster today. The stillness, the music, the scripture, and the solemnity of the cross all came together in such a profound way. It’s one of those moments that reminds you—deeply—of the love, sacrifice, and hope at the heart of this day. Grateful for the clergy, choir, musicians, servers, and everyone who helped create such a meaningful space for reflection and prayer. “By His wounds, we are healed.” Wishing everyone a blessed and reflective Good Friday. ✝️

Tonight at Swansea Minster, we entered the deep mystery of Maundy Thursday. After sharing in the Last Supper and the washing of feet, we now move into the quiet of the Watch at the Altar of Repose — keeping company with Christ in the spirit of the Garden of Gethsemane. All are welcome to stop, pray, and watch with Him as we begin the journey toward the cross. “Could you not watch with me one hour?”
