Nashik, Amravati, Nagpur and now Kolhapur. The Kolhapur police (Shiroli and Hatkanangale stations) have arrested two individuals - Shahid Sande and Shahrukh Desai, following a formal complaint. The accused reportedly befriended 10-15 girls, filmed them in compromising positions, and used the footage to blackmail them. There are further allegations from local organisations that the victims were pressured into conversion and that the explicit content was shared between the accused via Whatsapp. A special Investigation Team (SIT) has been suggested by local leaders to map the full extent of the racket. Devices belonging to the accused have been seized and sent for forensic analysis to determine the exact number of victims. The incident has led to significant tension in the Shiroli area, with the Sakal Hindu Samaj and other local groups organising protests demanding that the accused be charged under the Maharashtra Internal Security Act and POCSO. Maharashtra is now facing multiple cases of this kind. Sigh
