@JonCollett When did spurs ever spend big money before the stadium was built? 😂
English

@thfcShan Both clubs built their profiles by transfer spending before PSR came in!
English

@JonCollett Both clubs have had to do the same things to be able to generate the money that both clubs are now spending.
We are the blue print. You can always do the same.
English

@lukeethelatvian I’d say even when we spent money, we never went that extra mile to get our number one target - we spent on a lot of 2nd/3rd choice players and never paid the wages needed to push on.
The amount of noise is just insane
English

@thfcShan I don’t like you guys but I rather have an honest discussion then use rivalries to say anything. Revenues you make have given you lot the ability to spend this sort of money plus the fact that Spurs rarely have spent this much in their history barring maybe the last two summers
English

@zepppo666 @JUSTIN_AVFC_ @KieranMaguire No history?
First English team to do the double
First British team to win a European cup
First non league team to win the FA Cup
We have plenty of history.
English

@JUSTIN_AVFC_ @KieranMaguire They may have rigged financial regulations weighted in their favour but they can only ever field 11 players at a time just like us.
We do have an equalizer though, three things that they will never have, history, class and Unai.
English

Excellent explanation from the brilliant @KieranMaguire as usual, and there is I’ll be far more to come from spurs.
As I’ve always said raising revenue is the only thing that will break Villa through the glass ceiling now..
Champions league qualification, getting the stand open

How Spurs can spend big and keep spending with @bbcsport bbc.co.uk/sport/football…
English

@gunnerking_14 They want to be able to do a City/Chelsea and buy their way without putting the hard yards and making sacrifices in like we have.
The issue isn’t Spurs or Arsenal, it’s that they’re not allowed to cheat their way up.. even though Villa voted for the rules they say are unfair.
English

Villa fans are doing the same with us. It’s why this topic will be one of the few I agree with you on.
Villa & Newcastle fans are only looking at the spending power of spurs now & Arsenal.
What about when we had stadium debt from building new stadiums and we couldn’t compete financially in the immediate aftermath with wages of transfer fees and were selling our best players to stay afloat?
We had the same problems then Villa are experiencing now of trying to grow in the immediate aftermath of major investment, in their case, in 2019, when they were promoted into the premier league & not being able to be fully sustain such spending by the according growth of their revenue figures and had to make difficult choices just to survive that overspend.
Nasri, Clichy, Adebayour, Henry, RVP, Sagna, Vieira, Petit, Alexis Sanchez, Ashley Cole…. They forget the sacrifices we had to make then to take the next step that added stadium and match day revenue amongst other growth in revenue streams means we don’t have to now.
They are not telling the full story on why clubs like Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool & Utd have bigger spending power.
The people they want to and should be mad at is Chelsea & City for being allowed to cheat in the ways they can’t not the prudent spenders in north London for the most part. 🤷🏽♂️

“How can clubs like Villa get to the next level?” This is what it boils down to. These fans want to short-cut all the years Spurs fans have gone through of missing out on targets, not matching top wages, selling our stars & generally being mocked. They all wanna skip that part.
English

@wistownomad @SpursOfficial Would argue Van Hecke was a statement in terms of getting someone in who De Zerbi really wants and not faffing about over the fee, taking too long and ultimately seeing him go somewhere else with Chelsea lurking
English

Signed Senesi, Fernandes and Tonali and I am hearing rumours that @SpursOfficial still want to make a statement signing. All of the 3 aforementioned players are statement signings, unbelievable if we still haven't signed that so called statement signing yet. Just loving this 🩵🩵
English

@Myco_AFC @gunnerking_14 Lately? Before my old account got hacked they’ve been in my mentions for the last few years - getting a bit ahead of themselves 😂
English

@thfcShan @gunnerking_14 Villa and Newcastle fans have become very annoying lately.
English

I’m no spurs fan. Far from it.
But I’m sick of Villa fans crying about the milk their own club split about why bigger clubs that manage their finances better than they do can spend more freely.
You are a victim of your clubs own failings in that department.
Stop making that every other clubs fault but your own.
I will say this again: To hell with Spurs.
But Villa fans extend this same attitude towards us so let me break this one down.

1/ @ga11agbon Frustration understandable. Club at a ceiling watching Spurs spend after finishing 17th. But the rules were never tied to where you finish. They're tied to what you earn. Spurs can spend because the budget comes from revenue.
English

@UpTheVillaLad Levy planned for the rules coming in, I guess that’s the difference

You’re missing the point entirely.
You Sky 6 clubs got to pump in oil money and Abramovich billions. Even Spurs built theirs over years of smart business + investment. That window slammed shut for other clubs like us Villa fans pushing to break in - all thanks to FFP/PSR.
How thick do you have to be to miss that timing advantage? The Big Six revenue gap over the rest exploded from £205m in 2013-14 to £405m today (Deloitte data). They still dominate 50-67% of net spend while preaching “sustainability”.
Meanwhile UEFA hands out sanctions and scrutiny to anyone trying to close the gap, but the incumbents already had their head-start.
Ambition? What’s the point when the whole system protects the closed shop?
We’re out here grinding Europe year after year anyway. 🖕

@GaryRWard @LairySockPuppet Savinho isn’t much of a bomba at this point. I’m bored 😂
English

@tansleona 100%… pretty much a whole new spine and added a lot of leadership to the squad!
We really do need to focus on our attack now though 🙈
