We believe the EU Commission violated its own democratic standards to force a revision of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). Earlier this year, farmers took to the streets to communicate a crisis in the sector. Instead of looking deeper, the European Commission moved to scrap the most important environmental measures from this policy. The deal was rushed through within a month, behind closed doors, and totally ignored the required impact assessments or any public involvement.
