This all started due to Alex Jones' conspiracy theory that the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre (2012) was fake, and the parents are crisis actors. In 2022 the jury ordered Alex to pay $965 million; however, since he couldn't pay nearly that much, it ended up with a $73M settlement. Neither the conspiracy theory nor the lawsuit had anything to do with Trump. I am not sure why people believe that Trump was supposed to save Alex from his own idiotic actions. While it is true that Alex Jones was a Trump supporter for many years, does that give him legal immunity from libel against the victims of a school shooting and their families? It is also worth noting that Alex has been attacking Trump for a while now, so why should Trump stay silent?
