I’ve been scared to speak up more about Gaza. I feel unburdened to share I’ve been targeted & disparaged, as a Black woman physician, by nefarious forces within medicine, because of my pro-humanity stance, but NO MORE. I CANNOT be more scared than Palestinians in this moment.

Something that irks me about takes like this is how people who consider themselves to be informed seem to be unwilling to see how protesting activists do connect these issues. There are tons of articles about reproductive health access in Palestine and the parallels with the US.

in sudan those are our children. in palestine those are our children. in haiti those are our children. in the congo those are our children. on these college campuses, those are our children. *all* of the children are ours and we’ve gifted them a world that feeds on them.

We teach our students that history is contingent. That the world can be otherwise. And then our employers send in the police to beat that lesson out of them.

This country has more force for student protesters than they did for Jan. 6 or white supremacists marching through campuses with Tiki torches.

this is going to radicalize a generation towards police abolition and towards university abolition, we will remember the date april 30, 2024.
