@ALevinChess Yes, that's human chess. I remember trying the first exercices of Recognizing Your Opponent's Resources and finding an alternative solution validated by computer. It doesn't impact the training value.

Just finished what is now one of my favorite chess books, the first one I've managed to read from cover to cover in a while. What sets this apart for me: the mistakes. 🧵

and checking anything I questioned. Despite the objective mistakes, there is nothing like the beautiful and human analysis of Dvoretsky, Yusupov, and Dolmatov, who lay bare the mind of a grandmaster. And they were right most of the time, too.

In the post-computer era, it is nearly impossible to disagree with published analysis - and I find myself usually nodding my head in agreement, passively learning. Because I knew there were mistakes in this book, I read it critically - second-guessing everything I could...

I jumped over my pre-Reykjavik peak of 2029 to new high of 2061 FIDE rating (international). In the last two months I’ve gained 90 rating points, which is pretty wild at the age of 32 lol. Here’s to keeping the fire burning in September! ratings.fide.com/profile/309406…

Usually second place and $300 is something celebrate. It's a disappointing one for me; I failed to win a piece-up endgame in the last round. Gutnik won it clear. The guy is in his 70s and keeps getting close to hitting the national master title, and I really hope he gets it.

20,107 tactics solved on chesstempo since I started. Current streak: 222 consecutive days. Still under my record of 2100 rating, but we are grinding 💪.

With 2 tournament victories in July, I jumped almost 50 points and recover everything I've lost since Reykjavik (April). I am 10 points from my peak rating, but I feel I am calculating much better than I was then.
