@jrothwell The bit with a contraflow segregated lane, isn’t it? So it’s partly reused LCN presumably.

Another bit of dissent being discussed now on Reccomendation 10 which wants to see a modelling study and off-street trials to try @BritishCycling #TurningtheCorner report ideas. Deegan says it’s really just about a quick pause and a look - it should happen anyway. #HostileStreets

Now we’re onto the real top nerd stuff as we discuss reccomendation 9 on TfL pushing the envelope of TSRGD permitted designs. Russell wants controlled and organised approach to enabling more sensible street design. #HostileStreets

Discussion about the reccomendations (5&6) on KPIs and considering potential. Aldred keen to see more focus on borough’s own activity levels as already measured. Deegan says issues also when infrastructure measured by the metre not quality of network. #HostileStreets

Dales asks Russell about 20mph as covered in press. Russell says report is a committee report and isn’t saying make all main roads 20mph as Standard claims. Ask is for TfL to review speed limits in line with Healthy Streets. #HostileStreets

Deegan asked about issues of speed in Outer London. Issuue is design is based on speed limits and drivers target speed and behave accordingly. Says in engineering terms the UKIP and Conservative response against 20mph is wrong. Lower speeds do not hit capacity. #HostileStreets

Aldred asked about the nature of the focus of investment and change on inner London junctions. Says it is understandable and TfL and others including herself are interested in how to use data to widen choices and improve equity in outer London travel. #HostileStreets

Saunders noting the issues of the impacts of cars in London. Something people don’t seem to be fully aware of is that even someone who drives every day has a personal health impact from that and needs choice to avoid that. #HostileStreets

Russell asked by Norman about how much concerns and needs of local communities agree and disagree. Says issue does come up when question of reducing car use needs to be tacked but people are aware of their car dependency and not always keen on it. #HostileStreets

Now a bit of an informal response from @willnorman who’s lurking near the back of the audience. (Stand up, Will, we can’t see you at the front). Notes that some items are already in action at TfL and glad report reinforces that work. #HostileStreets

Russell: TfL should be doing research into @BritishCycling ideas in Turning the Corner report to help lead change in the UK as a whole to improve conditions for everyone on our streets. #HostileStreets

Russell: There is a need for TfL to review their indicators that they report on and focus upon - are buses being targeted on the right measures? Can cycling and walking be considered in more detail? Can we have a different TfL culture. #HostileStreets
