@jonnym1ller There ‘s been a significant amount of research into what makes therapy work or not work and the very famous studies conclude that the relationship we have with our therapist is the single largest contributing factor in its success. Co-regulation I’m sure plays a part in this.

One working theory I have is that 80% of the value of a good therapist is quite literally loaning nervous system capacity for the duration of the session — co-regulating and creating enough safety for the client to go inwards.

@zoescaman Yes we had the same with our toddler too, we just pushed through, gave her very short baths during the screaming phase and a few months later she was back to liking them again

@rhughesjones Yes I think it is a great story but a lot of my clients (sounds like yours too) have tried to take it as model. Still, it’s a good start but I don’t base my work on it preferring more researched models like Creating The Team Edge by Lucy Widdowson and Paul Barber.

@zoescaman Absolutely loved mine- recently stopped using it (it’s the new double stride and I used it to exclusively pump for 6 weeks) and now selling it If you are interested. If you prefer you can buy new attachments and re-use the pump (the expensive bit).

Has anyone ever used a performance / life coach kind of person and had success? I feel like it’s mostly charlatans (people selling their time who haven’t done anything impressive) but I also see the need for something more forceful than traditional talk therapy.
