The Colorado Avalanche sit 15th in the league since January 4th. They are considered a strong Cup contender because of their ridiculous start. Here are the standings since Jan 4

@21mFrench Last year and the year before? Uh yah. Without a debate they are. Edm had no issues beating Dal in back to back years. Vgk and LA proved much more difficult. Wpg also has not been good. Min is now as good as LA in the previous years.

Col hasn't had difficult matchups like VGK and LA in a long time. Edm is catching a break for once. Col has 1 conference final appearance in 22 years. Edm has a conference final appearance in 4 of their previous 5. Congrats on the cup in their only appearance fwiw.

@ProducerDrew_ Blackwood has been one of the best goalies this season with the hype of a number 1. Wedgewood is the best goalie this season in the NHL playing without the hype. Just goes out and makes saves and it’s that simple. Not even a hard Choice at this point.

@citchmook Same wedge just makes the saves it seems like. Reminds me of Tim Thomas a bit in Boston. Not the biggest name but just came in and played great with a great team. Plays like there is no pressure while Blackwood seems to play like there is a lot of pressure.

I know Blackwood is having an incredible season but there's a certain calm i feel when Wedgewood starts that simply doesn't exist when Blackwood gets the net. I can't explain it.

@thegoldenmuzzy They were ok. Colorado Missing an entire line of first line guys including 2 depth players probably didn’t help them. Avs probably should have won this game 5-3 or something but they also can coast a bit with the lead they built while everyone else is playing desperate hockey.

Still think people are sleeping on this Oilers team, but we’ll see
