🚨 A man with 13 prior arrests was convicted of felony theft in Illinois on December 23, 2025. 🚨 His jail sentence was stayed. He allegedly walked out and stole again the same day. 4 months later — 12 felony cases across 5 counties. Still free. The McHenry County State's Attorney said it herself: "It is ABSURD that this man is required to be let free into our community." Why can't they hold him? Illinois's SAFE-T Act — which eliminated cash bail in 2023 — prohibits pretrial detention for felony theft no matter how many times you've done it. 4 prior felony convictions. 12 new cases. Doesn't matter. The law says let him go. I pulled the court records myself. This is ONE county's portal. He has cases in 4 others. There is no single place in this country to see the full picture. That's exactly what CourtWatch is building — a free, public database tracking pretrial release failures nationwide. I'm working on making it open enough that anyone, anywhere can help build this and learn how desperately the judicial system needs to be overhauled. Illinois legislators have the power to change this law and protect the people of Illinois. They choose not to. I wonder why... @GovPritzker @RobertJPeters @SpeakerWelchIL @RepKamBuckner — you wrote and signed this law. This is what it looks like in practice. @SenatorWilcox — your constituents are paying the price. I started this in Florida. And I'm bringing it to every state. 🔗 courtwatch.live

Surprising amount of charity is of this kind. My ex, Tess, and I used to give to Koala Rescue. Years later, I found that they just sort of assign you a random ~bear that lives outdoors. Hundreds of people have the same one. Your money doesn't buy it food (they only eat one thing), but rather goes to support various green causes. Etc.
