Genuinely wondering what the path forward is for Reed Sheppard here with this franchise under Ime Udoka. Predictably, it feels like we’re right back to square one where we were in January with regards to his role. And I’d expect that to dwindle even further in the playoffs if he even plays at all. Fred will be back next year and will get his 30 mpg if his body allows. Where will Reed’s minutes come from? He’ll also be extension eligible the following summer. Are the Rockets hoping he reaches a point of defensive acceptability to Ime’s standards before that contract decision is made? Do we really think that he’ll reach that point by then? Just starting to wonder if they should just trade him while he still has value and get an actual rotation piece that Ime isn’t actually willing to play. Ime isn’t going anywhere.
