Beyond Expected

I think the entire hockey community is skewed when it comes to player development. Plante is likely only a 30 to 40 point NHL player right now. Especially at his size. It's a success bias. We look back at success stories. We don't look back at the average. And this isn't a shot at Plante. Players his age who score 30 to 40 points in the NHL often become 60 to 80 point players. The main issue is strength. It helps that Plante is in the NCAA over juniors. But even the NCAA is MUCH weaker than the NHL. That being said. 30 to 40 points would put him 6th on the team. So it would be a boost for the Wings. But on the other hand there are also success stories for players of Max's caliber staying in the NCAA. Johnny Gaudreau. The most important thing for the wings to do is to help Max achieve his height in the NHL. Which is probably a point per game in his prime years. And if he ends up falling short and becoming a middle 6 player with 40 to 60 points most years, that's still a huge success for a 2nd round player.

Incentive with his brothers sure But I don’t care about size and he’s not Jimmy Vesey getting the award because hes a 5th year, he’s a sophomore The wings not getting this guy into the line up AT LEAST by next year would suck. No hobey baker winner stayed back in 20 years

What do you expect out of Max Plante in the future?

This is much less of a reason than everything else brought up, but it seems like there would be incentive to not burn a year of his ELC. He isn't even slide eligible so from my understanding all of these players would need to be signed in the same off-season: Compher Rasmussen Finnie Albert Johansson Docker MBN Danielson ASP Anton Johansson And Plante? I don't think money will be an issue. And the writing is probably on the wall for Compher and Ras. But depending on performance from Finnie, Danielson, and ASP. staggering contracts might be beneficial.

My personal belief is that Max goes back. UMD will likely have a really strong team next year and the idea of being able to play with both your brothers for a year is too tantalizing. It would likely be the only time that can happen in their careers.

@Tim_Bro13 That's the identity the Wings need to develop. At minimum they need to work their ass off and be difficult to play against. We draft big defensemen and 200 foot forwards for a reason.

You can't even tell me his plan or the identity he wants even after I pointed it out to you. This is just embarrassing at this point. I show you a video where Yzerman outlines that he wants to build in the draft and he doesn't know how long it will take. I show you the identity and style he wants to build by giving you clear examples in the draft. I show you how other teams like Dallas built their teams in similar fashion. I show you that we have made progress almost every season. (39 points, 48 points, 74 points, 80 points, 91 points, 86 points, and 96 points projected). I show you all of that and you discount it all.
