‼️Russia is now officially threatening the Baltic states over their support for Ukraine. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Moscow will take measures against Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia for allowing their airspace to be used for drone operations. According to analysts and intelligence assessments, Russia is actively preparing for a potential confrontation with NATO. The outlet Bild has described a scenario in which parts of the Baltic states could be occupied within 10 days. In response, the Baltic countries are developing evacuation plans, strengthening defensive lines, and relying on NATO’s Article 5 — although Trump has repeatedly signaled that the U.S. may not be committed to it or to the EU.

🇿🇦 South African President Cyril Ramaphosa says that the country will not abandon its DEI policies, known as “Black Economic Empowerment (BEE).” “Those who say BEE and affirmative action must stop are just dreaming,” he said. South Africa has strict laws that mandate race-based hiring practices. A new law called the Employment Equity Amendment Act sets hiring targets for 2025–2030 across 18 economic sectors. Some workforce targets aim for 90–96% of employees to come from designated groups, which include Black people, women, and people with disabilities (minimum 3%). That means that if a company has more than 5% white men, it could face penalties of up to 10% of its income.

This is where the Hourglass Proposal comes in. Instead of a "hard freeze" that breaks immutability, Hourglass rate-limits the exit of legacy coins to just 1 BTC per block. It turns a 9-minute quantum heist (as warned by Google’s paper yesterday) into a 30-year drip. This protects the price floor and gives the world decades to migrate to BIP 360. It’s not a freeze; it’s a bottleneck that favors HODLers over hackers.

Never underestimate Bitcoin's ability to solve hard problems. In 2017, over 80% of miners voted for a BlockSize extension. The nodes overruled them, and Bitcoin came out stronger. But Satoshi's coins re: quantum computing? I don't know how we solve that one without a hard fork.
