We condemn China’s efforts to block travel by Taiwan President Lai Ching-te by pressuring other nations to deny overflight clearance. This is not diplomacy; it is economic pressure aimed at isolating a democratic partner.
The United States stands with Taiwan and supports its right to engage freely with the international community. 🇺🇸🇹🇼

China’s coercive actions undermine the status quo, once again exposing the risks authoritarian regimes pose to the international order. Ahead of my visit to Eswatini, several countries along our flight route abruptly revoked overflight clearance under pressure from China. 1/2

$580,000,000 in oil futures moved 16 minutes before Trump announced a pause in Iran strikes.
Not after. Before.
The BBC just documented five separate instances of massive, suspiciously timed trades preceding Trump’s biggest market-moving announcements — oil futures, the tariff pause, Maduro’s capture, Iran ceasefire bets.
The platforms where anonymous accounts cashed in? Polymarket and Kalshi. Donald Trump Jr. sits on Polymarket’s advisory board and is a strategic advisor to Kalshi.
There’s even a law against this. The STOCK Act (2012) explicitly covers executive branch officials. Zero prosecutions in 14 years.
Oh, and the DOJ unit created after Watergate to prosecute exactly this kind of corruption? Trump cut it from 36 lawyers to 2 and stripped its authority to file new cases.

DISTURBING: Chinese nationals are actively infiltrating the U.S. military as spies. Just months ago, former U.S. Navy Sailor Jinchao Wei was convicted of espionage. He provided sensitive military intelligence, including technical manuals and ship data from the USS Essex, to Chinese operatives in exchange for $12,000.
Separately, Yuance Chen and Liren “Ryan” Lai were arrested after arriving in the U.S. — Chen as a legal permanent resident in Oregon and Lai on a tourist visa in Houston.
Both face charges for acting as unregistered agents of China’s Ministry of State Security (MSS), allegedly recruiting U.S. military personnel and conducting clandestine intelligence operations targeting Navy bases and service members.

#China weaponizes aviation safety to block President @ChingteLai’s foreign travel, & the opposition chair responds by blaming the victim—the #Taiwan government. 🤷🏻♂️

@josephwutw @ChingteLai She expressed regret over the cancellation, calling it a major diplomatic setback. She questioned whether the National Security team and government had misjudged the situation beforehand e.g., was it a sudden unforeseeable event on the last day, due to poor management?
English

@josephwutw @ChingteLai She urged the government to self-reflect ("檢討自己") rather than always blaming others or external factors. She said the DPP was "venting its anger" ("把氣出在") on the opposition parties instead of addressing root causes.
English

@josephwutw @ChingteLai Cheng argued that Taiwan's diplomacy has suffered repeated failures under DPP rule (e.g., loss of diplomatic allies described as an "avalanche"). She contrasted this with the previous KMT administration under Ma Ying-jeou, which pursued "diplomatic truce" and do it better
