Today, and in the days ahead, the Select Committee will be celebrating America's 250th anniversary and the values we hold dear. As Chairman @RepMoolenaar says, "These rights are from our Creator, not the state, and government exists only with the consent of the governed." The future of America's auto industry is under threat from the CCP. Congress must pass Chairman @RepMoolenaar's bipartisan Connected Vehicle Security Act to block Chinese-linked technology, protect Americans' data, and keep the future of U.S. manufacturing in American hands.

Select Committee Chairman @RepMoolenaar recently joined @FoxBusiness and warns against U.S. dependence on China for medicines, highlighting the committee's investigation into pharmaceutical companies conducting clinical trials in China.

For decades, German automakers engaged with China and now their factories and employees are being decimated by imports from the very country they wanted to partner with. One of these German companies is @MercedesBenz, which is nearly 20% Chinese-owned. The company is actively lobbying the Senate in opposition to the Connected Vehicle Security Act, which is led by Chairman @RepMoolenaar and would stop that same decimation from happening to our auto industry. The bill is supported by American auto companies and autoworkers. All Americans should be watching as this German-based, Chinese-owned company tries to tell U.S. lawmakers how to set the rules for our own country. The real choice for the company should be: does it want to compete in America or have China-based ownership?

Chairman @RepMoolenaar and @Rep_Whitesides sent a letter to the Secretary of @CommerceGov Howard Lutnick urging him not to authorize American purchases of memory chips from Chinese companies.

The CCP’s transnational repression pursues innocent people around the world, all for the simple crime of reporting the truth about China. That would be another abysmal decision on top of the horrific decision made last year to send innocent Uyghurs back to China. Today’s @ChinaSelect hearing made it clear that strengthening our national and economic security goes hand in hand with protecting American innovation and ensuring the CCP cannot exploit our world-class research and academic institutions.

Chairman @RepMoolenaar questions the Department of @Energy and @NIH on the lack of safeguards to prevent collaboration with publicly known foreign entities that are a national security concern.

Dr. Patricia Valdez at the @NIH warned how America’s open and collaborative research enterprise has made the U.S. an easy target for foreign governments.

The threats facing U.S. research and development continue to evolve. Jeremy Ison outlined how the Department of @Energy – which was the subject of a Select Committee investigation last year – is trying to prevent future attacks on our research security.

Protecting the U.S. research ecosystem requires continued vigilance, accountability, and a sustained commitment to research security. Acting Chief of Staff, Dr. Rebecca Keiser, outlined the work @NSF is doing to strengthen research security, protect federally funded research, and ensure U.S. scientific leadership.

American taxpayer dollars should not be used for research with entities tied to China's defense research and military-industrial base. Today, Chairman @RepMoolenaar laid out how Congress can strengthen our research security and safeguard taxpayer-funded research against CCP exploitation.
