@CryptoKaleo sooo let me get this right.. you think the introduction of freezing of UTXOs into bitcoin, where the value prop of the network is its immutability and censorship resistance, is bullish? Maybe look beyond supply/demand dynamics and understand why there is demand in the first place

Up to ~6.8 million #Bitcoin currently sit in quantum vulnerable wallets. That's ~$500B worth of risk for $BTC the market has priced in. It's one of the major reasons people cite for the recent dip and underperformance BTC has had vs. other commodities. What happens if that risk goes away? If BIP-361 (or something similar down the road) passes, rather than worrying about a massive liquidation cascade, the total supply of Bitcoin would effectively be reduced by a large %. What's currently priced in as a massive risk factor - would all of a sudden become a massive supply reduction. BTC becomes verifiably more scarce, and is protected from extractors and bad actors. When you look at the incentive factor alone, I think this outcome is much more likely than people are currently giving it credit for. It'll obviously be hotly debated - but I think there's good evidential support this is what Satoshi would have wanted. And as hope and momentum replace fear and doubt, the price of Bitcoin will reflect it. You're still early. Be more bullish.

@jackmallers I think you'll find that I wasn't being mean to you and didn't claim you said it on purpose. I was just whining about the fact that a bunch of people will think it costs over a thousand dollars a year to run a node now. I like people running nodes.

There are only a small number of possibilities, and just about everyone knows what they are. If Hodlnaut was simply talking nonsense, he would be blocked and completely ignored as just a nuisance. By answering him, the attention of the entire Bitcoin world is focussed on his research. Why would anyone do this? It's completely irrational....or...is it? He is not blocked, so you can assume that there must be something to what Hodlnaut is saying (it's all true) that merits attention and replies in a vain attempt to "debunk" him. Clearly what Hodlnaut is posting is not "slop" which is nothing more than a puerile and substance free Ad Hominem. Another suspicious pattern of behavior. If Hodlnaut is really on to something, one of the following must be true. Hodlnaut is exposing the absolute truth There really has been a Core conspiracy The public records prove it it so Some detractor(s) are compromised, under threat Others are useful idiots following community leader(s) They are conspiring to disrupt bitcoin's corruption They are doing this in a way that keeps them safe They are doing this by discrediting themselves to galvanize the community against them so that what they actually want (BIP110 gets done) Or.... There is no conspiracy The de facto leader of anti BIP110 has... Alzheimer's is suffering nervous breakdown due to legal concerns Shifted incentives for the money (really?!) Is pulling the ladder up out of pique Is moving to destroy other companies Is moving to dethrone Vitalik Buterin Something else that has twisted his mind I'm sure there are many other fanciful pretexts people can come up with. Overall, its abundantly clear that something is very wrong with the anti BIP110 camp. Exactly what it is may never be known; in the meantime, the thing that really matters, protecting Bitcoin from "Use Cases" is the top priority. If this can be done, and then Bitcoin Ossified, all the other hard tasks can be faced going forward with a great deal of certainty that another cabal of conspirators cannot emerge out of the ether to disrupt your flow of bitcoin.

@brockm So you're just looking past the fact that the "hard money" of a gold standard was money well before and far longer than fiat? Is gold an oligarchy as well? Also, how does a disinflationary money disadvantage workers? Purchasing power would increase and be an advantage to workers.
