Hon Kyagulanyi made a bold but risky political move by visiting Obote’s grave, he wanted to show he’s a national leader, not just a Muganda leader. He’s trying to unite Ugandans from all regions, even those who once clashed in history.
However, this has two sides: Older Baganda who still remember how Obote attacked the Buganda Kingdom in 1966 see his visit as betrayal or insensitivity.
But Young people plus the liberals, especially those who never saw that history, mostly care about jobs, corruption, and good leadership not old tribal wars.
They may actually praise Bobi for trying to bring the country together👌👌🤝🤝
So politically, Bobi Wine is taking a tactical gamble: He knows he’ll anger some conservative Baganda, but hopes to win more national support, especially from the North and the youth.
If I would explain his visit well….its rather showing peace, unity, and forgiveness. For me I’m seeing a true national unifier.
But if he doesn’t manage the message quickly, his opponents will twist it, saying he’s betrayed Buganda.
In short: His visit to Obote’s grave is a smart national strategy, but it comes with emotional risks back home in Buganda.
