Took advantage of a spare morning today to try @GoWhippet's fantastic new Blue Arrow service. Really hoping this takes off - top class Neoplan coaches, as fast as the train and exemplary service from the drivers Steve and Wayne. Seems there's quite a bit of interest already!

I have no problem with removing licences from those who are unfit to drive but this needs to be accompanied by major investment in public transport to provide a credible alternative

We've got the biggest overhaul of road safety for a generation coming on Wednesday, @benclatworthy reports * Motorists over 70 face mandatory eyesight tests every three years, ending the system of self-reporting * The government is also drawing up plans for a detailed cognitive test for older drivers * The drink-drive limit is likely to be reduced from 35mg/100ml to 22mg, making even a pint risky * Drivers will be given penalty points if passengers fail to wear seatbelts * Ministers believe that the figures show that key road safety messages about wearing seatbelts and avoiding drink-driving no longer work. * They are concerned around a rise in drug-driving and the number of older people who continue to drive, despite having failing sight and other medical conditions thetimes.com/uk/transport/a…

Our York-Leeds-Harrogate line reached new heights in 2025. Harrogate Station saw growth of over 16% more customers, with Leeds-Harrogate seeing a 18% increase in usage and an industry-leading digital PAYG trial. More exciting times are coming in 2026 too.
