@hirschirsch @grassrootsag Voraxor plus Prosulfocarb or Boxer has been safe here on heavier country. It might be worth sowing a bit deeper on any lighter country next year if dry. Similar to other comments I have made sure we have brought forward the N application to get that Neo up and cranking.

@grassrootsag Loving our Neo in the west too. Haven’t done any barley with discs before. Just wondering what herbicides are used for ryegrass control with barley over east? I’ll be doing some small trials next year.

Neo barley showing its wares in a decile 1-2 season. Barley generally looking the goods given a dry year but Neo has filled on stored soil moisture. Love the crop competition even in lower biomass years & keen to see how its grain quality ends up.

@LFelmingham Clients here employ a contractor with a 40L capacity drone. Brilliant for corn insecticides/fungicides at silking and patching out wet untrafficable areas. To increase the water rate to 50L was cheaper than a calling in a helicopter. Mouse bait spreading at 1-2kg/ha works well.

Question about drones and spraying. Have you used one and what did you think of the results? Or are you looking at getting one? I am looking at a T50 primarily to spray fungicide, insecticides and to spread slug bait Then drains and channels and see how it goes from there.

Slugs jumping the grazing gun on this this later sown Nizza following Easter rains. First time they have been observed on this property. Are slugs likely to be more prevalent this year following rainfall timing and two prior good seasons? ⁦@NutrienSthEast@agnovatech

A grower called 3 weeks ago proudly informing me that his new bar allowed all his canola to have DAP @ 100kg with the seed and Urea @ 70kg underneath to ‘really get it moving’ Thankfully it received 4 inches of rain for April. How bad can N tox peg establishment? @NutrienSthEast

@brill_rohan @schilgee @Steve_Marcroft G’day Rohan, yes that would make sense. The farmer retained seed has only had a targeted Sclero Spray in the past 2 seasons. It never has had a foliar application targetting blackleg. Do Nuseed seed crops have a double in crop spray strategy @NuseedAustralia?

Compare the pair. Same Variety (Bonito). Same Flutriafol in furrow rate. Same foliar Prosaro rate. Same decile 1 GSR rainfall. Same rotation. One farmer retained seed, the other bought in each year. Is this a common observation in this type of season @Steve_Marcroft?

@CaptainCanola @Steve_Marcroft Thanks Justin, as I was in charge of collection, sampling error is very likely. The sub sample in the pictures were taken across a range of elevations off headlands etc. Do you have any data available on outcrossing and reduction in blackleg suppression? Or is it seed infection?

@Challis_JS @Steve_Marcroft Very interesting observation mate...lets see what Steve has to say if we can eliminate some other factors like any sampling error or geographical differences or retained seed generational outcrossing influences 😎

@schilgee @Steve_Marcroft G’day Karl, yes both sites had the same seed dressings. Maxim and Poncho. No Jockey this year as I have seen it peg germination % in years without a steady break. I should have recommended it this year as the rains event in early May bounced every single seed up!
