@IslesDen @TuckonSports All 3, in my opinion, are playing more minutes or larger roles/usage than they should be. I think that factors into it as well. But, it's hard not to agree that they haven't been great with them in the lineup.

It was a GREAT decision to hire Pete DeBoer as the #Isles next HC by Mathieu Darche. Hopefully it’s the beginning of many decisions or transactions by him that will truly help this team move forward. We desperately need him to learn from his mistakes this season. That’s all.

@IslesDen @TuckonSports A lot more than just them factored into the final stretch of bad games. I truly think the players were beyond frustrated with the system that they knew wasn't working and all just imploded, hence the awful results

I know about 200 idiots on twitter who could've done a better breakdown on how the #Isles have played lately and why that led to Patrick Roy being fired. This discussion is beyond embarrassing to be broadcasted on the NHL Network. Isles haven't defended well in four years.

All I know re: the Isles is it’s been impossible to watch them lately and not think “Geez that D corps should not look this disorganized,” and that Pete DeBoer is a good coach. Got the jump on the market too so hey, I get it.

Having three full days of practice with #Isles is an absolute dream scenario for a good coach like Peter DeBoer. It’s like he’s been hired for a Four Nations tournament but the entire four-game, ten-day event takes place on Long Island.

Mon-Wed: 3 invaluable days of practice. A dream for good coaches. No reason not to add player(s) from AHL Thursday: Leafs, who play night before Saturday: Senators Sunday: Habs, also on a back-to-back Tuesday: Canes, who play night before and may rest guys 4 home games. Win them all. Try to earn it. Show something. Salvage a glorious season turned nightmare after a trio of “veteran” “leadership” “grit” “playoff-style” additions. Jobs are on the line, but now’s not the time to say “X must go.” Despite the collapse, they are in third place in the division. You’ll know in ten days if anyone’s going to get fired. Again, 4 home games. A pokecheck shouldn’t be necessary.

@IslesFix Bad take here. This team either quit on Roy or was lost on what adjustments they needed to make to execute the game plan. Both fall on Roy here. Didn't matter what personnel would have been brought in.

What was unacceptable was the GM’s trade deadline, Roy, whether you think he was the right coach or not, was collateral damage.

Darche thought so poorly of the job Roy was doing a month ago, that he traded a 1st, 3rd, a prospect and Drouin (his big summer signing) for Brayden Schenn to fuel the playoff push. Others may have long knew Roy wasn’t the right coach, but the GM wasn’t among them #Isles

@IslesFix My prediction is if they had Deboer from start of season that Isles would be 2nd in Metro and heading to the playoffs (That includes the questionable moves Darche made at the deadline). I feel those deadline moves wouldn't look so bad then. Coaching can really make a difference!

Peter DeBoer, and others, were available when Darche took the job, he decided to stick with a hold over in Roy; then, after he exceeded expectations, saddled him with Soucy, Palat, and forced positional changes with the unnecessary trade for Schenn. Then, fires him.

As for why now (on top of the bad play): There were/still are a number of really strong head coaches on the market. You wait until after the season, you may not get the chance to hire the guy you want. #Isles, clearly, weren't willing to wait and see.
