💥⁉️Health Minister @mikenesbittni- 'The last party I thought would block it would be the DUP. The party of the Devil’s buttermilk.'
Cool FM News@newsoncool

⁉️💥NEW Minimum unit alcohol pricing: 'The last party I thought would block it would be the DUP. The party of the Devil’s buttermilk.' 🎥Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 speaking to Health Minister @mikenesbittni. ⛔️He says minimum unit alcohol pricing will not be introduced in the current Assembly term due to a failure to secure Executive agreement. Mr Nesbitt told MLAs the failure to introduce the policy was a missed opportunity which will have “an impact on many vulnerable and at-risk people in Northern Ireland”. Deputy First Minister @little_pengelly said her party had asked the Health Minister to “bring forward proposals that are based on evidence”. Minister Nesbitt says there is evidence and outlines some of the figures behind his reasoning.

@gerrylynch There was no Eostre! St Bede was giving the Pagans some latitude over their claims - absolutely no historical evidence. & given the Date of Easter is reliant on Solar AND Lunar Calendars combined at Nicaea in AD325? & no, Evangelicals from Colorado invented Psalm Sunday nonsense!

Easter is named for the Saxon goddess Eostre, whose festival the Christians took over. This was agreed the previous Sunday, and the Christians celebrated by singing psalms, which is why the Sunday before Easter is still known as Psalm Sunday. #EveryDayALearningDayOnTwitter

I've never done any of those things either and I feel perfectly qualified to say something about masculinity. [Clears throat] There are at least 4 billion different ways to be a man. Stop worrying about what other men think of you. Concentrate on being a decent human being.
Tom@WiggumCharm

NOT ONE of these #Manosphere saddos has ever gone down the pub and had a pint. None of them have ever successfully flipped a beer mat and caught it. None of them have ever got the fruity to pay-out This alone disqualifies them from talking about masculinity. Fucking soft lads…

When I was a student, Women's Hour became essential listening for me as I explored the relationships between sex, gender, politics, power and society. (I shouldn't *have* to say it, but I will. Equality is good for men too). I also thought JM would have been good on Taskmaster
Harriet Harman@HarrietHarman

Impossible to overstate the importance of Jenni Murray to the movement of women that changed our politics, economy & our society; that changed our lives. She was the broadcasting wing of the women’s movement. We all owe her. RIP. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

At uni, I met a beautiful girl who came from the Emerald Isle. I tried to charm her, but thought I’d stupidly blown my shot. I may not have given it a second thought, but for the fact that one day I married that very same girl. Happy St Patrick's Day!🍀 leftfootforward.org/2026/03/the-co…

A question for UK medics: What's the most major injury that a minor injury unit would treat?

@DavePiperDJ Excellent. So many houses (including mine) use oil because, for a long time, mains gas wasn't available. When mains gas became available, some of us didn't bother switching. And, of course, on very rural places across the UK, there still isn't, and probably never will be gas.

Daily Mail headline: "Greens could remove Church of England as Britain's established church" Leaving aside the rights and wrongs of disestablishment (which I think, on balance, I favour) the Church of England is *England's* established church. The club's in the name.

@DavePiperDJ I suspect Scotland and Wales (and most of England) haven't noticed. I suspect whoever wrote that headline doesn't understand any of it. Also, Northern Ireland is used to being ignored. We're geographically and culturally distinct enough to be considered "a bit weird" by GB.

@DavidMurphy Fair point, well made! I suspect Scotland and Wales are fuming. And why only Britain, rather than the UK? Doesn't Northern Ireland matter to them? 😉

@ItsAndyRyan Spending a lot more time in the south recently, I've realised that I can't always tell the difference between different Irish accents. So I wouldn't be surprised if someone from a different content missed the nuances.

@AdamMerrivale Bananas like these don't grow on trees. The ad was perfect to appeal to me as a toddler. Years later, I found out that it's technically accurate. Banana plants are herbs, not trees

I won't ever say that it's a good thing that another human being has been killed, and I have a horrible feeling that the people who started this war have no idea how to finish it, but I am certainly not a supporter of the Iranian regime.

Someone on Newsnight has just referred to Ali Khamenei being "eliminated". For some reason, that euphemism has annoyed me. Khamenei was killed. This person seems to think that's a good thing. Why won't he say killed?
