"It didn't start on October 7!" Right. Who says it did? It didn't start in 1947 or 1948 either. In 1929, as part of the larger riots, Jews throughout the land were attacked. Jews had lived in Hebron for thousands of years, but in 1929 they were killed and had to be evacuated. Some returned but had to leave again in the 1936-1939 riots. This was not the first series of events nor the last, but it led to the formation and reformation of Jewish defense organizations. This started long before the Holocaust and long before the creation of the modern State of Israel.

Next week Mazal and Shlomo Manzur are supposed to celebrate 60 years of marriage. They met in Kibbutz Kissufim and have lived there all these years raising a family of 5 children and 12 grandchildren- until October 7th when terrorists broke into their home and violently kidnapped 85-year-old Shlomo. I’m beginning to get the feeling UN officials want Israelis to be helpless in the face of Hamas atrocities. We can’t attack Hamas targets because people will be hurt, but we can’t ask them to evacuate because that’s displacement. They want us to pull troops out, but they don’t want a buffer zone that will keep Hamas away from the border. Do they want us to just keel over and die? Is anything legitimate in self-defense to prevent Hamas atrocities, or should we just say, “come and get us?”

Zionism is not the reason why the Palestinians don't have an independent state. The Palestinian leadership is the reason why the Palestinians don't have an independent state. How many deals they rejected while filling their pockets? How many kids did they send to die while their own lived lavishly abroad? Where are Arafat's kids? Or Haniyeh's? Or Abbas's? Or Sinwar's?
