@TheVallyD Nothing worse than a 'perfect' film that manipulates what you feel and think via production/editing like Spielberg. You can make discoveries in low budget and imperfect films.

@soulmeaning Step 4 was/is a gamechanger for me. Whenever a fear or resentment pops up now I trace it back to my root by asking myself what aspect/part of me does it threaten? Thank you for your responses. I enjoy your posts.

@Doug_Entropy Step 4 softens ego distortions. I've been in the rooms many times and listened to people painfully and obviously in the grip of ego distortions lecture others about all manner of things. A person like that does not carry a healthy message for others who are seeking sobriety.

Spiritual teachings that come from unhealed, unintegrated intellect/ego are prone to distortions. Everything downstream of that, no matter any bright, shiny, extravagant promises it makes, is fruit of the poison tree. How can you tell the difference? Spiritual discernment.

@Doug_Entropy Many AA members do not work the steps, especially the crucial step 4, the moral inventory, which requires going within and working on the self. They do the first 3 steps and skip to step 12 and then they white knuckle sobriety, which makes their recovery brittle.
