@TigsTown I think that’s a good point. I think the goal is cutting down on travel time and making it easier. Which encourages mobility/spending around the state and makes for more attractive lifestyle if you can easily get around. But the focus should be regional/local detroit transit imo

@violetikon So the police should let someone with a gun run into a crowd? Weird to prioritize the safety of the person running from police with a gun over the safety of Detroit families enjoying fireworks

Detroit police just chased and shot a teen after they say he had “his hands tucked in a way that gave officers reason to believe” he was armed. The shootings like this do not stop, even on nights when the whole region is watching freep.com/story/news/cri…

@violetikon Gang violence has plagued detroit for too long and there has to be enforcement of the law. People hanging around a downtown event brandishing guns are not safe individuals. Is it unfortunate that he was shot? Of course. Easy solution: don’t endanger officers and the public.

@DE_Gifford The program simply recaptures 50% of the NEW taxes the project generates. Its not cash from residents. I do think GM is at fault for moving employees to Warren and should step up more.

@wischlist @ciullo100 Their lease ends in at Soldier Field in 6 years and they’d love to leave earlier. Poor stadium experience for team and players. Takes years to design and build a world-class stadium.

If the Bears actually had patience and foresight, they’d wait until the White Sox moved to The 78 and then build an enclosed-roof facility at 35th & Shields. If Chicago’s leaders actually had vision, they’d work to have the Bears and White Sox swap locations for their stadiums.

@ChadLivengood @ben_warren03 @detroitnews How would home value increases affect maintenance costs? And taxable value increases are capped annually. Home value increases are one of the most positive things we can ask for in detroit - builds generational wealth for those who stayed.

Packing right now getting ready to move into my new place and found my journal from 2024 when I started Molzer Development. It is absolutely wild to read & take a step back into my thoughts over 2 years ago. Life has changed a lot. If you don’t journal, I suggest doing so.

@DE_Gifford It is in horrid condition and not adjacent to their corridor along woodward/rocket offices. $3M is more than its worth. They are focusing on execution rather than expansion now, so no surprise. However, I really wish they did because it seems unlikely this buyer can redevelop it

@2024dion What makes them bad? Just not density concentrated downtown? Curious.

@HouTwit @WMATASoldier @jamesrambin Affordable housing is not often section 8. Just means its set aside for those making a certain % of Area Median Income (such as 60%), which is high in Austin. So they are stable people with jobs, not a random homeless person as you are imagining lol.

@WMATASoldier @jamesrambin Weird. Do people who can afford a market-rate really want to live in the same complex as Section 8? They probably get robbed by their neighbors all the time.

there’s a mixed-income townhome project in east austin that actually went with a different exterior color than gray or charcoal gray or space gray or just full on black and whaddya know it looks way better. only took everyone like 10 years to figure this out

@A320ne0 @jarjoh @2024dion Fair point, yeah I don’t know a ton. I don’t put a ton of stock in rail transit (bad everywhere). Seems to have good density/connectivity around the riverfront, arena, and ballpark which makes for good urbanism. But, totally agree on the lack of historic fabric
