Not understanding a thing is not evidence against it. Making the cost of lying in public worth more than than the engagement clicks.

I agree with almost all of that, but I’ll push back on why, at least I think, they invoke things like MMX and CTX. They get slaughtered on everyday observations, sunrise, sunset, inability to measure consistent heights over a flat plane, tides, gravity, the southern celestial pole, star trails, etc. So they pivot to things like taking MMX out of context or cooking numbers in CTX to justify having a seat at the table. There is no debate. FE is inane, ridiculous, and easily shown to be impossible. But they hunt for narrow technical niches that require a disproportionate amount of effort to unpack, hoping complexity buys them legitimacy. They just want attention. Best not to give it to them.

@newbsharp @Inspired7525441 In all fairness, the OP calls into question your “unusually intelligent…” claim.

@Inspired7525441 Moving the goal posts? Humans are apes. We're an unusually intelligent, advanced tool using, widely moral apes. So, yes, we necessarily evolved from apes and most recently share ancestry with modern chimps.

i - it’s not, we checked ii - that’s ridiculous. It is really big though, so imperceptible with just our senses at local levels. iii - level is defined by earth’s equipotential surface. No one said level is flat. iv - space doesn’t exist? Then where did you wrote this from? Lunatic asylums occupy space too. Space is everywhere. What a silly thing to say. This seems to have been written by a phucking phourth grader.

Some Phun Phakts [i] If the earth is larger than what they claim, then the entire cosmological theory collapses... INCLUDING the theories of gravity... (nothing of current cosmology can remain) [ii] Unless Earth is a sphere with an INFINITE diameter, curvature would be detected if it exists. [iii] Water always finds its level. A sphere can ONLY give a level if its radius is infinite. Nothing less. [iv] All of the above will still require that space exists. (Which is unproven.) Stay tuned for more Phun Phakts.

@escapefrommelos I bet you one billion dollars that if I took you to a movie and bought you a tub of popcorn, you would not eat it with a fork. Have you ever heard the old saw "correlation does not prove causation"? Can you think of any confounding factors to the overlay of your two maps?

@EBagnatori @FlatEarthZone Exactly! It’s all perspective, if you take a pencil and you look down the pencil from the pint to the eraser. The pencil looks like the pendulum gets thinner the farther away it is to your eye. I feel like flat earthers are just trolling everyone at this point. No way they belive

@Ozonex7 Really?! How far then? How big is the sun and moon? We’re all waiting with rapt attention! At least you got the part about it not being a ball of fire right.

He doesn’t seem to understand the moon is also influenced by the sun’s gravity. He thinks, in his feeble little flerf mind, that the sun has to speed up to catch Earth in its orbit around the sun. For him to say Newton lucked into his equations is hilarious. The narcissism is next level.

Seriously? Once upon a time you acted as if you understood F=GMm/r² @ken_caudle, just because the Moon's motion looks different when viewed from different reference frames (like stationary vs 5mph car) doesn't mean F=GMm/r² is wrong. In fact, F=GMm/r² EXACTLY predicts the pva of every solar system object ever seen in all humanity's history.

@DisculpemeCock @BobWhencer So you have no idea why our atmosphere is blue then. How can someone make it to adulthood (probably a wild assumption on my part) without knowing such basic facts about the world you live in? I actually pity you.

Anyone who has accepts the truth of: * The shape of the world * The structure of the Universe * The story of where you live Because "NASA said so" should understand the foundation of everything you were ever taught and the proof for all of it is a photo built on a computer.

If Earth is spinning 1,040 mph, orbiting the Sun at 67,000 mph, and the whole system is flying through the galaxy at over 500,000 mph… why don’t we feel any of it?

@Keetb999k Wait a minute. So now you’re using the Mercator projection and not the Gleason map? Lmao! So the North Star is now in the middle of the Atlantic. And I guess you guys cut Australia because it caused too many problems for your non model? Brilliant!

@hefdiddy @wedietz This is the dumbest thing I’ve read in quite some time. I didn’t know words, strung together and forming actual sentences, could be so nonsensical. I’m not even mad, I’m kind of impressed.

@wedietz And retards like yourself think that’s where the sun starts to rise or set as well. Imagine thinking the sun starts to disappear from you 3 miles away while standing at water’s edge on something with an alleged circumference of about 25k miles. How many boosters did you take?

Do flat earthers ever wonder why a horizon even exists on a flat earth? If the earth were flat, wouldn't we just see the ocean extend forever, until it fades away into the atmospheric haze? And yet it doesn't. There is a sharp delineation in the ocean, the horizon, coincidentally at a distance predicted if we lived on an 8000 mile diameter globe. I'm sure they have some handwaving explanation for this.
