@PulseOracIe @matthewdmarsden Exactly. I think people want a new Kapeenick to complain about. If I'm at a sporting event in Turkey and their anthem is played, I'll stand respectfully. But that's about it. Expecting anything beyond that is kinda silly.

This might be controversial, but I do not expect a Frenchman to put his hand on his heart for the American national anthem anymore than I would an American to put their hand on their hearts for the French one.
Charles R Downs@TheCharlesDowns

Frenchman Victor Wembanyama (@wemby) stood with his arms crossed during last night’s national anthem. Wemby previously admitted he wore third-world Muslim garb to honor Eid. He’ll honor Eid, but not America. There’s nothing cool about Wemby. Go Knicks.

@PulseOracIe @matthewdmarsden Never thought about this before today, but per the U.S. Flag Code civilians are advised to place their right hand over their heart. My schools never taught that.

@matthewdmarsden The "hand on the heart" thing is manufactured outrage. If you're at an event where a national anthem is being sung (your country's or someone else's), the expectation is that you stand & remove your hat. Everyone here was standing. No hats. All good. ✨

@levib @BaseballWRLD_ Not bad. Really happy that Vargas is thriving. Really happy Edman carried LA to the World Series in 2024. Win/Win.

@BaseballWRLD_ how is this trade feeling now? White Sox received: Infielder/Outfielder Miguel Vargas and minor league infielders Alexander Albertus and Jeral Pérez. Dodgers received: Pitcher Michael Kopech (from the White Sox) and infielder Tommy Edman (from the Cardinals).

In January 2025, the Reds acquired Gavin Lux from the Dodgers in exchange for Mike Sirota and a Competitive Balance Round A pick in the 2025 Draft. The Dodgers used the pick on OF Charles Davalan. Sirota (#14) and Davalan (#67) are now both Top 70 prospects in baseball. Lux had 0.3 War in his only season as a Red and is now a Ray. Just insane stuff from the Dodgers

@MattWallace888 Interesting. I never thought much about my anthem etiquette. I always find the flag & face it. If I'm wearing a hat, I remove it & cover my heart. If I'm not, I stand with my hands behind me. Seemed natural.

Spurs players REFUSE to put their hands over their hearts for the national anthem! They are making millions of dollars to play a child’s game and still feel oppressed somehow… Only 2 players covered their hearts. Take note of which ones!

@theblockspot Here's the thing about that: For his time, he was. Humans keep evolving. Our games keep evolving. If we give Ruth 100 years of education, training & fitness, who knows what he'd do? In this moment in time, I'm enjoying watching Shohei play. That's good enough for me.

I’m sure Babe Ruth was incredible. There’s just absolutely no way he was even close to as elite as Shohei Ohtani.

@VinnysCorner1 No. Top 5-10 talent is arguable. But there have been tremendous baseball players. Mays, Ruth, Teddy, Junior, Gehrig, Mantle, Jackie, Cobb, and too many pitchers to name. If we see 4-5 more years near this level of production, then yes.

Game 7 of the World Series. Bottom of the 9th, bases are loaded, 2 outs, and your team is down by 1 Mariano Rivera is on the mound. You have your choice of any hitter, of any era, in his prime. Who gets the call?

An MLB executive on who could land Tarik Skubal if he’s traded, per @ByRobertMurray “Friedman could go out and get him. He ups a team's chances to win the World Series by a pretty big margin. You get two starts in that five-game series. Friedman gets him, that’s my prediction.”

@Howard_Cole The 2025 Andrew Friedman trades are going to be remembered for a while. Dodgers got Mike Sirota, Charles Davalan, James Tibbs III, Zach Ehrhard, Adam Serwinowski, Ben Rortvedt, Alex Call, and Paul Gervase all acquired in one offseason/trade deadline while giving up very little.

It’s only two games, obviously, but Mike Sirota, acquired from Cincinnati in the Gavin Lux trade, doesn’t seem fazed by Texas League pitching. He DHd the first night and played center tonight, going 3-5 with two doubles. He’s at .444/.500/.667 for Tulsa after hitting .325/.478/.602 at Great Lakes. And .333/.462/.612 lifetime. #Dodgers

The Dodgers pull off a CRAZY 9th inning comeback to take the lead! 🔥 Max Muncy got things started with a huge walk after a successful challenge at the plate. Then Alex Call came in to pinch run and chaos followed immediately 😱 Mason Miller tried a pickoff move that got away, allowing Alex Call to race all the way to 3rd base! Then came the big moment... Andy Pages battled Miller in an incredible at-bat and on the 9th pitch delivered the go-ahead sac fly! Alex Call was absolutely BUSTING down the line to score the run. What a team moment for LA! 💙⚾ Dodgers look to take the series tomorrow with Shohei Ohtani on the bump!

@Jimfrombaseball The Dodgers were the Reds biggest rivals, both being in the National League west. Never thought of Sutton as their best pitcher. Amazing, since he went to the HOF! Thought Messersmith and Tommy John were better. Neither of them made HOF.

"When the Astros snatched Don Sutton up in 1980, with a four-year, $3.1 million offer, it was impossible for Tommy Lasorda not to take it personally. Don Sutton had been a Walter Alston man, publicly lobbying for coach Jeff Torborg to replace the storied manager in 1976, even when Lasorda was all but a lock for the position. "I just don’t believe that I could play for a manager who’s a headline grabber, who isn’t honest." Sutton said at the time, later refusing to become “one of Lasorda’s bobos.” Things grew so heated that Lasorda challenged Sutton to settle their differences with fists. The pitcher declined. Their differences remained." Don Sutton never garnered a single Cy Young vote in four years under Lasorda during his prime. "Comparing me to Sandy Koufax is like comparing Earl Scheib to Michelangelo." Don Sutton. In 1998, when the Dodgers retired Don Sutton’s number, Sandy Koufax paid his own way to attend the retirement Ceremonies, as they were teammates on the 1966 Dodgers, Sutton’s rookie year. When Don Sutton thanked him, Koufax said: "How could I not? You’re the only 300-game winner I ever played with." Don Sutton is in my HOF!!!
