We hear a lot about the ingredients in our food and how they cause us to be fat. But honestly, I wonder how much of it is just that we eat too much. Back then, people generally ate a lot less than we do today. Portion sizes were a lot smaller. (1/)

I think that is clearly too low, but these discussions are strange because they always implicitly assume that people somehow don't need to work at all if the pay isn't enticing enough.
The assumption is that people can just elect to stay home on some kind of welfare?
