Qualified & ready. @ryderkessler is the candidate that Albany needs to tackle the housing crisis, protect democracy, & be a strong voice in the future of Manhattan.

🚨 ENDORSEMENT ALERT 🚨 From leading voter protection teams to co-founding @abundance_ny, I’ve fought since 2016 to protect democracy, advance voting rights, and engage New Yorkers in politics. I’m grateful that @CitizensUnionNY is recommending me to take that work to Albany.

By reducing the pre-certification timeline for many projects from two years to six months, we'll get shovels in the ground and New Yorkers into homes faster — while maintaining a fair and thorough review process.

Yesterday, we were proud to join Mayor Mamdani, Deputy Mayors Julia Kerson and Leila Bozorg, The NYC Department of Buildings, and community leaders in the South Bronx to announce new reforms from the SPEED Task Force aimed at accelerating the creation of affordable housing across New York City. By cutting red tape, streamlining approvals, and moving projects forward faster, these reforms are focused on delivering the affordable housing New Yorkers need and deserve.

With SPEED, we’re pushing down hurdles to housing, including: 1) Lengthy environmental review 2) Delayed building permits 3) Lack of agency coordination 4) Complicated lottery paperwork Red tape and bureaucracy should never stand between families and affordable housing.

Administration really leaning into the speed idea here at the release of SPEED report. Hurdles include delayed building permits, housing lottery paperwork.

Thrilled to be here with the Mamdani admin for the release of the SPEED task force recs to cut red tape and reduce time at every step to deliver housing faster. “The process of building the affordable housing we need to lower costs is too onerous and too slow.” -@NYCMayor

A place promises a future when it makes room for people: to raise families, to rent/buy first homes, to send kids to the school down the block. Here in New York, we can either build that future, or we can continue losing it—one family at a time.

What does it look like when a place promises a future? People move in, families have kids, starter homes get built, and schools fill up. What does it look like when it doesn't? Let's look at the data New York got this week. 🧵
