The West Don Lands district. This would be a better place if you eliminated half of the streetscape. Strangely @WaterfrontTO waterfront and Toronto Planning seem to see its wide ROW as a model for urban design of the next neighborhood.

2020: the Province claims the Foundry must be demolished for housing. 2023: the site is now a parking lot offering 2-year leases. The community wants housing, but through adaptive reuse of the heritage buildings rather than demolition and neglect. #SaveTheFoundry

The City is moving to designate the Foundry under the Ontario Heritage Act. Although the property was listed on the Heritage Register in 2004, full heritage designation should strengthen protection for the remaining buildings. secure.toronto.ca/council/agenda… #SaveTheFoundry

@blogTO Here’s a look at the flattening taking place right now. Can’t see it here, but about 150m away @SteveClarkPC had “affordable housing” signs put up two years ago that are still there. This is a parking lot, it’s not affordable housing. It won’t even be affordable parking.
