If Satya Nadella actually believes there is more monetization of Xbox games going on on YouTube to the tune of over $5 billion, which is the case for Xbox Game Pass, not to mention the billions more in straight game sales, it's probably time Microsoft get itself a new CEO.🤣

Microsoft is losing hundreds of dollars on every Xbox Series X and Series S console it sells right now because memory prices have gone up by 700% since the consoles were first made. Xbox did not buy enough memory at the old lower prices, so making each console now costs a lot more. They raised the price of the Series X from 500 dollars to 600 dollars. Even so, they are still losing money on every console they sell.

@Pirat_Nation Yet characters look robotic, voices seem so inauthentic. These NPCs remind me of Starfield npcs they look elsewhere sync is bad as well. If they dont fix this this game will fail.

Playground Games has confirmed that Fable’s 1,000+ NPCs are voiced by real actors, not AI text-to-speech. According to the studio, around 100 actors were cast to bring the game’s “Living Population” to life, with every NPC fully voiced. Developers said they recorded “tons and tons of dialogue” and said that all voices in the game come from human performances. @FuuTop1 How is MS spinning off Xbox into a subsidiary a good thing. They're dressing up a pig, making it attractive enough so they can sell later on. Right now value is at an all time low they cant find a buyer. Investing more short term focusing on bigger IPs does just that.

@AshenOne_VI Get rid of studios that don't deliver high metacritic games. And get ones who can. Build on that. Layoffs suck but they got too much creative freedom and failed to deliver.

I genuinely think we may be witnessing the end of the “give studios the freedom to pursue their own creative vision” era that Phil Spencer often championed. I don’t want to single out any specific studios, but I imagine there are teams under a lot of pressure right now to show not only what they’re making, but why players should care and how it can help grow the platform. If Xbox is placing a greater emphasis on commercial viability, then projects with limited audience potential could face a much tougher environment going forward. Creative freedom is great, and I wish more experimental projects had succeeded. But the reality is that this industry is driven by commercial results. If Xbox’s long-term goal is to rebuild the value of the platform, then they’ll need games compelling enough to make non-PC players consider buying an Xbox. That’s also why I wonder whether we’re eventually heading toward major changes to Game Pass. Not necessarily the end of the service, but perhaps a shift away from the idea that every major first-party release must launch there on day one. Do you think Xbox is moving in that direction, or am I completely off base?

For more concrete numbers, its worth mentioning that last quarter, Microsoft brought in $31.8 billion in profits. But yeah sure, big changes and much-needed layoffs and closures, right?

Posted this elsewhere, so I’ll share here too. I went to Xbox's Fan Fest event to attend a preview event and it was the most flagrant display of wealth imaginable. Five stories filled with caterers and hundreds of smiling faces there to assure me of the brand's strength.

Interesting stuff. Point 4 sure makes it seem like at best some projects like Kiln and pentiment will no longer be greenlit and worst case some of these studios will be sold off/shuttered. Theres a lot of excitement around Xbox and rightfully so, but think we’re going to see some decisions we as gamers won’t like when it comes to certain studios. Hope I’m wrong but we shall see.
