@HayMan7140 @armathior @K2Campy @GigaBasedDad Argue that with Jesus, brother. I’d be remiss (and reminded at my judgement) if I didn’t mention that multiple Peters have infallibly taught that no one outside the Church can be saved. (Extra ecclesiam nulla salus.)

@HayMan7140 @armathior @K2Campy @GigaBasedDad I’m nobody. Just a former atheist who sat down and read the New Testament for the 1st time in 1996. I had no dog in the fight. Was certainly not Catholic. No, it’s correct because the Church created by Jesus and founded on the Rock of Peter has taught this since 33AD

@HayMan7140 @armathior @K2Campy @GigaBasedDad No, because it is not scripture that Jesus gives us to use as authority. It is the Church headed by Peter. Nowhere does Jesus tell us to read it for yourselves. He gives us a magisterial Church headed by and founded on the Rock as our sole authority - not scripture.

@HayMan7140 @armathior @K2Campy @GigaBasedDad Any scripture that you think upholds the heretical view of so-called “Bible Alone” aka sola scriptura. I mean if ever there was a scriptural teaching, it’d be that right? To put it another way - if there is no scriptural citation for “Bible alone” then it is self-refuting

@HayMan7140 @armathior @K2Campy @GigaBasedDad Oh maybe I missed it. Can you cite the scripture? And afterward explain how Jesus gives Peter (later his bishops) the power to “bind” sins?

@HayMan7140 @armathior @K2Campy @GigaBasedDad Sigh. No, I’m claiming that Our Lord’s explicit commands establish him (and each successive pope) as the ROCK on which Jesus builds His Church. The actions of the early Church are simply evidence as to how the contemporary Church viewed Peter & his office

@armathior @HayMan7140 @K2Campy @GigaBasedDad False. The Catholic Church was founded by Christ on the apostle Peter. See Mt. 16:18-19. And Christ Himself gave Peter His Authority including the power to bind (hold) and loose (forgive) sin. The so-called “Sinner’s Prayer” is unbiblical - like the heresy of “Bible Alone.”

@Ben539943869062 @armathior @K2Campy @GigaBasedDad You do know the difference in the new and Old Testaments right? Because new testaments are identical. And insulting Luther and Calvin don’t trigger me. I don’t worship them. They were just fallible men. Just like the pope.

@HayMan7140 @armathior @K2Campy @GigaBasedDad Wrong. For centuries up til the 1500s, Scripture included 77 books. It still does, but after the arch-heretics Luther, Calvin, etc. they abridged the holy canon because it contradicted what they wanted to emphasize. Luther himself wanted to exclude the Book of James.

I remember wheat being an almost sure thing when I was a kid. At least to grow bushels. We are working on year six of “if it doesn’t rain like 2” and soon, we can just not plan on running this one through a machine”. Dumb.

@Ben539943869062 @armathior @K2Campy @GigaBasedDad So you’re claiming that Peter’s dispute resolution is what establishes him as the first pope? And I have read scripture sir. Particularly the New Testament, which is no different between Catholics and Christians.

@HayMan7140 @armathior @K2Campy @GigaBasedDad Sometimes I’m shocked that Protestants don’t seem to have read this very first book after the Gospels. Over and over and over again, the Apostles call upon Peter’s authority. Here’s a non-snarky suggestion - go re-read Acts noting how many times the Church calls on him

My oldest is graduating in May. When we started, I said every year, “if it doesn’t work this year, we’ll send them to school next year.” I stopped saying that around 7th grade, realizing there was no reason to send them away, ever. And so far, I don’t regret homeschooling.

@HayMan7140 @armathior @K2Campy @GigaBasedDad St. John Henry Newman. “To be deep in history is to become Catholic.” (That’s what happened to me also. No one was more shocked than I was to study the Bible and become Catholic.)
