Brian Heywood - That Damn Mormon
Must read! If you haven’t seen this @engele exposing the back and forth between the governor, the legislature, and the AG’s office scheming on the best way to “force” an income tax on WA state you need to, no you must read the full thread. I know i know your nicotine stained social media attention deficit only allows you 15 seconds of read time but try to read the whole damn thing My favorite memo is the one with this quote “I wouldn’t monkey around with trying to characterize it as an excise tax. That will only make the Leg. seem disingenuous. Instead, tee it up as a test case to try to get the ‘income = property’ line of cases overruled.” Note the banner on this page: "ATTORNEY-CLIENT COMMUNICATION. DO NOT DISCLOSE."
Elan@engele

Washington's own lawyers told Gov. Ferguson his signature "millionaire tax" was almost certainly unconstitutional, in writing, before he signed it. I obtained the public records. Here's what they show. 🧵

Swing and a miss! Major League Baseball encouraged players to wear “Black Lives Matter” on their uniforms but reportedly threatened Christians who write Bible verses on their hats. @USEEOC will investigate whether this amounts to religious discrimination.

@bob_burrough Mike won't get your message; he is compromised on multiple fronts ... living in the San Francisco bubble so long doesn't help matters. The same goes for the San Francisco Chronicle.

The first MLB game I attended was April 6, 1987. I was 9. The SP? Mike Krukow. I've been a season ticket holder. I'm a fan of Mike. Mike is wrong. Mike is a bigot. It isn't the gay community being discriminated against, but players forced to support something they disagree with.
KNBR@KNBR

"They were in for a rude awakening with the response and it wasn't just from the gay community. It was from the Northern California community that supports the gay community." Five minutes of Mike Krukow on the Pride Night controversy via @knbrmurph & @MarkusBoucher. "When you're a player in this environment, it's your responsibility to know just how sensitive this city is in regards to that culture of freedom in the way you live your life."

Final reading, this weekend. This story simply won't go away. Yet another western WA newspaper publishes the story about the current governor's disastrous backfire in trying to "dare" me to challenge him. So, I've challenged him to a series of Lincoln-Douglas debates on WA law and policy. Unscripted. Raw. Real. He suddenly got all cowardly and silent. Maybe I'll debate an empty chair. The chair might be more articulate than the governor. thedailyworld.com/2026/06/10/gov…

Evaluating the integral ∫_{-∞}^∞ 1/(1 + x²) dx and shows it equals π. Splitting around zero, the left improper integral from -∞ to 0 limits to π/2 via arctan, and the right from 0 to ∞ also to π/2. Adding them gives the total π, illustrated by the shaded region under y = 1/(1 + x²). This integral is used in normalizing the Cauchy probability distribution and to model resonance and spectral line shapes in physics and engineering.

Study calculus. not because exams exist. because reality moves. • derivatives → how things change • integrals → how change accumulates • limits → what happens at the edge • gradients → where systems want to go • differential equations → how nature evolves motion, heat, fluids, control, optimization, robotics, ML. all of it speaks calculus. without it, you see outputs. with it, you see dynamics.

the trick to learning math is not memorizing formulas. it is seeing the pattern hiding underneath the symbols • equations → compressed relationships • vectors → objects with direction and structure • transformations → how one space becomes another • abstractions → remove noise, keep signal • proofs → verify the pattern is real math feels hard when you stare at syntax. it becomes beautiful when you see the latent space. the symbols are not the thing. the structure is the thing.

There are 2 types of people: 1. People who see a trillionaire and wonder how they can innovate and emulate such success 2. People who see a trillionaire and seethe with resentment Do everything you can to ensure you're always around the first kind of person.

Today, Elon Musk, a trillionaire, pays the same amount into Social Security as someone making $184,500. If we end that absurdity and lift the cap on taxable income, we can make Social Security solvent for 75 years and expand benefits by $2,400. My Social Security bill does that.
